LOOK AT THIS THANG!!
Other bad things Midori has done
Uses Shin AI to mine bitcoin
Got hypnotized by a candy store lollypop, nearly got arrested (same eyes)
Used the AI's as sims
Cuts his hair without using a mirror
Sleeps in thirty minute bursts, and in his office alone
Uses Asunaro's funds to take 500 college courses, and bills them
Works at the DMV for fun, because he loves being a problem
Says Pokemon names wrong to make Sou mad
Loudly hits on Gashu at the gym, wolf whistles and runs v fast because of Kai
Once dropped his hand in the toilet, and had to call a plumber to get it back
Shin is the type to rather die than expressing his true feelings. He hates exposing any emotions yet expects others to understand him miraculously, then either gets defensive if they do or frustrated if they don’t. you have to be a fucking psychologist (hi midori) or gifted with infinite patience (hello kanna) to maintain a relationship with this dude. what a funny little guy
That’s why I don’t think shin “women’s feelings are a pain to deal with” tsukimi will ever become kanna’s gentle big bro™ even in no death game au. Yes he still loves her deeply but this fucker just cannot express his affections like a normal human being. He would burry his love under a facade of cold, distant demeanor: “Urghh stop crying already it’s annoying” “btw Here’s the chocolate u wouldn’t shut up about for a month. No it wasn’t for u I just couldn’t finish it myself” hmm ok sure u fucking tsundere. Someone (Sara) will probably point out “wtf kanna ur brother kinda sucks”. And kanna will be like “noooo ur just not gifted with the psychic power of seeing through a tsundere. He actually cares”

Examining the advantages Hiyori gave himself in the Banquet and how it fell apart.
Key advantages: Hand swap, coffin swap, Hinako’s assistance
Sara turn 1:
Determined there are 5 glowing coffins, that the brand new coffins Gin and Midori walked in to should be glowing, the hint lights correspond with coffin control colors, and that there was a human in a coffin at the start of the sub-game.
Hint 1 is a red coffin. Hinako leads the discussion towards the authentication system arguing Hiyori’s potential humanity - Mai’s hands being used on the console comes up and its determined Hiyori may be the 1 human.
Choice: pick hint coffin or fall for Hiyori’s humanity status deception picking 1 of 4 remaining glowing coffins.
Results: 0% chance of winning, 25% chance of losing (killing Gin) if she falls for the deception.
Hiyori turn 1:
66% (2 of 3) or 50% (2 of 4) chance of getting a blue light selecting a glowing coffin. 50% chance of winning or killing Hinako on blue light.
Sara turn 2:
Determined Gin is blue, Hiyori is red. Coffin swap undetected this round. Hint 2 is red. 60% or 80% of glowing coffins discovered based on Sara’s first turn. Results: 0% chance of winning, 0% chance of losing knowing to pick red
Hiyori turn 2:
100% chance of winning (blocked)
Sara’s advantage is her unfulfilled wish. Which Hiyori tried to cheat her out of previously with Keiji but Meister rules in Sara’s favor that it’s a valid move she can make here. Hiyori’s hint had a 50% or 100% chance of being blue this round, either way he would know which glowing coffin Gin had to be in.
Hiyori picks Anzu’s coffin because that gives Sara zero new information.
Sara turn 3:
Determined Hiyori is in nonglowing coffin, coffin swap discovered. Sara advantage: Kei-Q-Mai’s coffin trick discovered with 33% chance of being selected as the hint.
50% chance of winning
Hiyori turn 3:
Brain machine broke. Knows “Keiji’s coffin” could not be opened since the cremation but still considers the nonglowing coffin a viable option.
50% chance of winning
Turn 4:
Sara 100% chance of winning, Hiyori 0% chance of winning due to turn order.
Adventures in amateur translations, I dont think I posted about this to tumblr before but after B there is something I noticed that could give a slightly different impression between the jp release and the english translation we have.
Hiyori’s final words as I understood them:
ふざけるな…! サラぁ 譲歩してやつたんだ…!! なのに…! やめれば良かつた…!! こんな事 死が… こんなに恐ろしい事だなんて…!
deepl: You gotta be kidding me…! Saraaa. I compromised with you…! But…! I should’ve stopped…! This is not right. Death… I never knew death could be so horrible…!
vgperson’s translation: Don’t screw with me…! Saraaa…!! I gave you a compromise!! And yet…!! You should’ve given this up!! To think death… would be so terrifying…!!
I wouldn’t have questioned vgperson’s translation since it can be hard to assign pronouns to sentences sometimes and its easy to flip things around, but I did see some japanese speaking artists make art and commentary reflecting the idea that Hiyori was realizing his own fault right at the end instead of continuing to blame others when there’s consequences like he does with Alice. A bit too little too late to be having such a realization, but notable as a point of characterization.
I haven’t gotten here in my replay yet, but interesting update that the line in english has been changed. The “I knew” thrown in there makes it sound like it’s been on his mind instead of something he’s thought now that he’s in a position to regret that he’s here. But either way it’s an interesting point of characterization.
Shin has no social skills.
Most people aren’t comfortable with liars. No one wants to be deceived, and hearing that it’s a possibility so flagrantly makes it hard to trust someone again. That’s what Shin doesn’t understand. With each lie, he’s making his smoking gun seem more like a water pistol.
Shin doesn’t have the laptop, and his words are already simple hearsay. They could be trusted if he had a reliable reputation and people felt comfortable putting their faith in him, but he blatantly admits to being unreliable.
This is a good view into Shin’s mindset. To him, it doesn’t matter if he lied. He has good information that aligns with what he knows, so in his mind, that is enough for him to be trusted.
He doesn’t consider the bonds Sara has been making. Nor the fact that without the laptop he’s in a game of “He said. She said.” He saw it which means it’s true, and that black and white mindset causes his downfall.
⚠️ FLASHING / GLITCH WARNING / SPOILER WARNING ⚠️
Shin is 100% a doomer no joke. He even physically looks like one
God i finally got why shin is so popular. Dude is literally twink wojak
Shin is into Dostoevsky and definitely kins r*skolnikov. No I will not elaborate on this
do you think shin would dox people?
He’s probably remembering every piece of information Keiji and Sara tell him on the logic route for that exact purpose, so yes.
He’s scared Keiji and Sara will figure out who did it though, so he’s make a throwaway account and somehow manages to dox his identity along with Sara’s.
I don’t know if shin’s not a misanthrope then who else is. He has huge trouble understanding people’s feelings and is extremely pessimistic about human nature, and this is a perfect contrast between sou and shin. Sou loves human and can generally read their emotions like an open book, while shin was deeply resentful toward others and often perplexed by their feelings. But It’s not like shin is completely oblivious to the atmosphere. He can understand other people perfectly through logical reasoning (he’s the first to point out midori's fear of death); it’s just that he cannot empathize with them in an emotional sense. Meanwhile for midori figuring people out is just part of his natural instinct; it’s done subconsciously, in an instant, and does not require rigid deduction
Say cheese!!
