Hi! I’m Adam, a 21 years old bisexual trans guy from Slovakia, living in northern Italy.

I came out as transgender four years ago and still nothing has changed, rather things went down like crazy. My parents don’t accept me and they’re extremely toxic towards me. They’re transphobic and homophobic. I can’t keep living in this house. I need to run away as soon as possible. + I need to start hrt because my mental health has been really deteriorating because of my feminine appearance. I also need a new binder because my mother has thrown away my older one.

My goal is 7500EUR, about 8700USD.

I hate how so many people in the grunge scene are so gatekeepy with clothes. Like bro. Kurt Cobain literally just wore whatever

The whole point of grunge was to BE GRUNGY. Grunge means wearing whatever hideous shit you found in the thrift store or at the charity drive. If you're buying clothes new or with fashion in mind, you're doing it wrong. 🤷‍♀️

I grew up in the grunge era this was a tine when fashion magazines were booming and we started getting TV shows that were solely devoted to clothing. We had parents who were born in the 50s and 60s and still believed that how you “let” your child dress would cause people to judge your parenting skills. We were in a society that had much stricter rules about which genders could wear which clothing

When grunge hit, poor kids stopped wearing the same 3 outfits all the time (because we could only afford a few nice things). They pulled out older clothes that they used to love but felt they had stop wearing because it looked worn. They went through hand-me-downs and donation bags with excitement instead of dread

GNC people (most of whom didn’t even know they were GNC because it wasn’t talked about much back then) started experimenting with the gender lines of clothes. I knew girls who had never even walked through the men’s section of a store until they got into grunge and wanted some cheap, bulk t-shirts. Girls who’d spent their lives in cheap slip-on shoes (because that was appropriate for their gender) put on combat boots for the first time and realized their feet didn’t have to hurt all day. Guys started wearing shirts with patterns on them and even experimented with skirts, although that was a bit more dangerous because of the problem with anti-gay bullying

I still remember the first time a store in the mall came out with a line of ‘distressed, retro t-shirts’ to try and make money off the grunge trend. $20 for something that looks like you got it at a thrift store for 50 cents? None of us poor kids were going to waste money on that, we knew where to get old clothes. But the middle/upper-class kids who barely knew what a hand-me-down was were buying them up

Having rules for how to dress grunge is classist. It was founded by people who couldn’t afford fashion trends and didn’t care to follow them anyway. It was driven by poor kids who decided they were sick of being told how to dress and that certain clothes were too shabby to be acceptable. It was led by artists who had a pretty wide range of styles and the connecting idea was “be comfortable in your own skin, in who you are, and in what you wear”

I remember some 90s magazine article about how to achieve "grunge" looking hair, and it involved washing and styling and using tons of product, and like... just wash your hair less??? They wanted (and still want) to monetize literally everything, even poverty!
