Robbert! The sweet mentor romantic who wants nothing more than to be with his Comet girlfriend, Bernice. I drew a little interaction between them because they make me so uber happy.

He just wants to be with her :( very unfortunate.

My boys ref! He's very fun for me to draw. The vest part can be removed and have his chest out, just for context! I love villains. I also drew him without trauma, just to see what would happen!

He has kindness in his eyes.

Getting my refs together for art fight means figuring out how to come up with outfits =_=. Miss thing here took me 4 and a half hours. Bleh!! But she's cute so I don't fully mind.

maybe this is not my place to say because I am monolingual, and I'm sure it's part of a larger, more nuanced discussion about visibility and accessibility on the internet, but I think it'd be cool if people posted in their native languages more instead of in english. I see people do it way more on other platforms than on tumblr which is almost exclusively in english

El problema es, como bien has dicho, la accesibilidad y la visibilidad.

Tumblr en concreto es muy anglocentrista y un gran número de los usuarios no habla más que inglés. Si quieres que tus cosas lleguen a gente con gustos u opiniones similares, escribirlo en inglés asegura que la gente por lo menos lo pueda leer. Suma a esto el hecho de que bastantes series y tal son originalmente de habla inglesa (y a veces ni se traducen a tu lengua madre), lo que crea un fandom principalmente angloparlante.

Más allá de eso, también hay que tener en cuenta las diferencias culturales que surgen entre fandoms de distintos idiomas. Por ejemplo, durante mucho tiempo el fandom de Vocaloid angloparlante y el hispanohablante han chocado con respecto a temas como la piratería. En ocasiones es complicado manejar estas expectativas, y si sabes varios idiomas, peor incluso.

A mí me gustaría subir cositas en español y encontrar a gente que comparta mis gustos, pero en Tumblr en concreto es casi imposible. Tumblr ya es de por sí mucho más «nicho» en espacios hispanohablantes que otras RRSS como TikTok o Instagram, y si tus intereses no son muy populares, despídete.

La lingüística de los espacios de fans también está hipercentrada en el inglés. No es una pareja, es un ship; no es un universo alternativo, es un AU; no es destripar, es hacer spoiler, etc. Incluso las siglas: en español es LGTB, pero lo que sueles ver es LGBT. Parece una tontería, pero esta disonancia cognitiva hace que resulte muchísimo más complicado hablar en tu propio idioma en un fandom. Por no hablar de las innumerables referencias a posts o a memes... en inglés todo, por supuesto. Como te atrevas a hacer cualquier referencia cultural no inglesa, no te entiende nadie. Pierde la gracia.

Casi todo esto se puede achacar al imperialismo cultural estadounidense. El inglés es útil para comunicarse con gente de todo el mundo, pero su omnipresencia sirve de barrera para todos los demás idiomas. Quizás habría que reflexionar un poco sobre por qué coño el resto del mundo tiene que tragarse años de clases de inglés para hablar del juego que le gusta en una red social mientras muchos angloparlantes no se dignan ni a meter un texto en un traductor automático y prefieren pasar de largo.

I’ll give more into the world building and that stuff, but Stars are alive and the Moon is a rotating job position fulfilled by mortals. I hate him!! I draw him so much. More art below the cut!

This is when he was younger, like 29-30 years old with his “girlfriend” Pomona! I despise their relationship. And as a treat have a little baby Ardens.

At night there is a bonfire.

Everyone is invited

They laugh and celebrate

Flags waving off the back of trucks

The sky is bright and wide

Smoke lingers on the skin with swear

And there is joy and pride and love.

I was not invited to the bonfire.

There is no flag in my truck,

Just trash and treasures collected

From the places i have seen

But there is an obligation to show up.

Maybe someone will smile because I’m there.

I stand there in my ill-fitting clothes

While everyone else has on perfect fits

They look so beautiful.

I try to bask in the glow and get burned

The fire does not want me there.

They look at me

Question why i didn’t choose better clothes.

They offer me spares of theirs

And i decline.

I’d rather not.

So I leave.

And in the daylight smoke lingers on my skin.

I smell like a bonfire.

Everyone looks at me.

It’s been a month and it still stays.

You don’t look like you go to bonfires,

They say to me as I fill out the forms,

Circling options is easier than explaining.

They didn’t want me at the bonfire.

I wasn’t allowed to go to the bonfire.

So I walked the treeline trying to feel

The warmth and love and pride and joy

From 50 feet away.

Maybe one day it will be easier

to look through the mail 

and read the invitation better. 

There is no dresscode to the bonfire.

So I really don’t post about my OCs all that much but since I’m reworking their story I think it’s worth the shot of getting more comfortable sharing them! I’ll make a few more posts with the art I have so far for them and the little blurbs I have written for them I’ll put somewhere (maybe here, maybe ao3, we’ll see!) I’ll make a context post once I get more of the story figured out. But for now: meet Martha (at least, that’s what our main character thinks she’s called) and Earnest, the little guy at the bottom! These two are currently in a dream where Martha’s delivering a prophecy to her favorite mortal painter to bring to life.
