Our next convention will be LvlUp Expo 2017 (May 12-14). We are currently planning on doing Legend of Zelda one of the days and new Splatoon costumes for another. Not sure yet what we will be doing on the third day. By the way, anyone else planning on going to LvlUp and interesting in joining our LoZ group? :)

Hey guys! Sabakon is this weekend and we are spending the whole weekend there as Gon and Hisoka. No multiple costumes this time, sorry! (We have full time jobs lol)

I finished Gon’s backpack today (incidentally, I realise now that the last picture in this post is one I took before I was done with it...). This was my first time trying to sew based off a pattern and honestly I couldn’t make heads or tails of it so I mostly made it up. Still, I feel like I learned a lot about sewing in the process, given that I can hardly sew at all. Between this and my boots, though, I’ve gotten a lot of experience lately.

Hisoka WIP

First try with thermoplastic pellets to create Hisoka’s shoes. uglybbbird had to remelt it a few times before getting it right, but now they’ve got a good shape.

After working on them for two months, Gon’s boots are finally finished! I am so proud of how they turned out. It was hard to make shoes from scratch, one of the hardest things I’ve ever made (and I had to make them twice because they didn’t fit right/look very good the first time), but I think it was worth it in the end. They look pretty good to me.

In other news, our apartment becomes a complete disaster zone in the week before a convention.

Gon & Hisoka: weapons

Yes, those cards are real knives! (Not homemade- bought at Super Toycon). The fishing rod was a pretty quick and easy thing to make, but it’s a bit cool since it can extend and retract like the real thing. Not totally sure if Sabakon has a prop length limit, though- I may not be allowed to bring it in.
