Belos Fan Event Announcement!!

Hello! For those that don't know me I ran the BelosSimpTober back in 2023, and I thought it would be nice to do an event for Belos fans again, this time in the summer (not only since people have more free time, but since the show takes place over the summer) , with only 1 prompt pair week and this time making sure to include any Belos fan, simp or not.

Prompts will begin being given out on the 13th (this Monday). Any sorts of art forms are welcome!! Art, animation, sketches, crafts, writing, music, collages, ect!! Go have fun!!

Let’s dive into some villain appreciation with Emperor Belos (Philip Wittebane) from The Owl House. Honestly, I absolutely adore this sinister, uncompromising, and incredibly charismatic old man. He is easily the best-written part of the show for me.

To be completely frank, I didn’t love the series as a whole, rating it around a 3.5 out of 5. The core plot feels too cliché—yet another quirky girl (Luz Noceda) who travels to a magical realm, finds loyal friends, and gets powers. The world-building borrows heavily from various anime, and there aren't many shocking plot twists. Plus, you can clearly feel the consequences of Dana Terrace's conflict with Disney. Because they heavily cut season 3, she had to compress a full season into a few 40-minute specials. As a result, the ending feels incredibly rushed, and many plotlines were completely lost.

But despite the rushed pacing, the way Belos was written is masterclass. My absolute favorite part is the episode where Luz enters his mind and explores his memories through paintings. This is the ultimate visual storytelling. The lore isn't dumped on you via boring dialogue; instead, it unfolds naturally through the environment, hidden details, and creepy background art. That is exactly how true storytelling in animation should work!

He is just such a brilliant, ruthless, and captivating villain. I just had to draw him!

Credit goes to @Harlymph for the special code :) (they made it so Philip gains health when killing things and loses sanity when holding a red bird)

Art/rest of the mod by me ! (Custom dialogue doesn’t work so it’s just the basic one) I’m also trying to find a way to make the cape and mask and staff but that might come later, I’m still a noob at mods and need to figure it out lol. Link yo the mods at the end of the post !

i’m not really all that good at drawing animals let alone horses so this sketch was kinda tough lol, i’m very proud of the outcome tho! the process was also so fun so i included the timelapse! (you’ll have to excuse the other doodles- i was struggling to draw haha)
