@scarabou try planting clover, it looks close enough to grass that people won't complain. Plus it fixes nitrogen in the soil and only grows to like 6".

Clover unfortunately doesn’t grow very well in Florida. St Augustine grass wants to die and is only kept alive by masses of chemicals, but I live in a neighborhood with an HOA which requires it.

the police in texas really dropped the ball. how do you wait 40 mins to an hour to engage w an active shooter in an elementary school? cowards. they literally sat outside and did nothing for all that time.
