“if you elbowed me in the gut because of a gummy bear that makes you a villain 100%.” he claimed as they both were settling in on the commotion. he thought the police being there would have got things to calm down but it only escalated as he saw his classmates that weren’t involved being handcuffed. his initial instinct was to yell out but he knew that wouldn’t have done anything. “guess we better at movies in the park to shit we can’t do now huh?” he scoffed as some of the officers got closer to them. when shai got cuffed first he tried to step in between to stop them, “aye! watch out, we ain’t even do nothing man!” he argued as another officer pulled him back and forcefully grabbed his arms and put them behind his back. “ah, get the fuck off me!” trent tried the resist the handcuffs and it took another officer coming over for him to relax and go with it. “we getting out, don’t even trip. and when I tell my dad about officers...” his words trailed off as he tried to memorize the names and badge numbers. “yall finna lose yall jobs, watch.” and that was the last thing he said as the officer took him away from shai and led him to one of the cop cars.

“is that where you really wanna be loyal?” he queried. it wasn’t a topic he wanted to get into too much but he couldn’t help but to ask that simple question. after passing the fries over to her, he had reached over to grab a stray that was nearly hanging off the container as he listened to her list of the different snacks that she had. “yeah you gon have to pass me some kit-kats cause that’s one of my favorites. i’m shocked you got good taste in snacks cause your movie taste had me worried.” he said jokingly as he grabbed his gatorade from the cupholder and took a quick swig. “ion recall saying i liked that movie, it was mid but it was somebody next to me that I couldn’t say no to so, yeah.” trent shrugged as he put the cap back on his drink and set it down. “but next time? i’m picking the movie. rom-coms not bad but you gotta pick a GOOD one. i prefer a horror movie forreal but I know everybody ain’t into that aka they scary so i’ll usually settle for a comedy or something with a popular actor.”

he wasn’t very good at not looking guilty as he had started laughing to himself. so much that he hadn’t noticed when the water bottle had come hurling back at him, hitting him in his forehead. “forreal shai?” he called out as he stood up and walked over to her still laughing. he wrapped his arm around her neck, putting her in a headlock from behind for a few seconds before he stopped. “I threw a lil ass gummy bear and you tryna give niggas concussions. that’s crazy.” trent’s attention was suddenly put on the protestors that had come out of nowhere. he was couldn’t make out quite what they were saying but it had got chaotic rather quickly. “what the fuck...” he mumbled as things only got louder from the group. he then motioned for his friend to get up not knowing what was to come but he didn’t want them to be caught in the crossfire. “let’s go...anywhere but here, cause these people wilding right now.” he said right as the police started to appear.

“tell her she owe you some tips for being late, ion know if it works like that but that sounds fair to me especially if they was being stingy again.” he explained. trent looked at her begging hand for a quick second, squinting his eyes trying to think about what snacks she could have. though he knew the sharing of his food was inevitable as he took the first bite and then passed the styrofoam container in her direction. “them snacks better be good too, not no nasty shit like pretzels and twizzlers.” the male claimed after he finished chewing and he turned his head completely to see what she was going to pull out. “just cause you call it a classic don’t make it one, i’m already questioning your taste in movies because of it too so ion wanna hear nothing about drumline.”

trent had just busted a open a fresh pack of gummy bears as he sat in his spot watching those around him. however when he spotted his best friend in the row of people right in front of him he had no choice but to mess with her. he picked out his least favorite gummy bear which was the clear one in the pack and launched it at the back of her head, quickly looking away with innocence afterwards.

while indulging in the carne asada fries he had just purchased, he normally wouldn’t have paid the person sitting by him any mind but he recognized the voice which caused his head to turn immediately. “look who made it. soccer mom’s be doing the damn thing a lil bit though, those after game snacks used to smack.” trent said as he picked up the fork to mix the fries around. “i’m not surprised that someone who chose a walk to remember doesn’t like drumline. this is a proper movie.”

“oh you actually fucked with me?” he repeated with a dark chuckle falling from his lips as he shook his head. “if this is how you do people that you fuck with then I pray for anybody that you actually consider a friend cause they ain’t safe around you.” he noted quickly as he let her finish her responding rant but by this time it was clear that the two were on different spectrums of the conversation. “see, here’s the thing. you think you got all the information when you don’t. you don’t know shit and that’s why there’s a problem. you don’t even have half of it and that’s the crazy part but when it comes out? man you gon wish you had let me let you break the news. if your lil source was smart and had all the information don’t you think they would’ve gone to big media outlet instead of some small school radio? think about that. second, you taking what they’re saying as facts as if they can be trusted over the person who’s in the shit. i’ma tell you right now, you ain’t got it all. and when we get back and I get drug tested by the NCAA which is scheduled for as soon as I step back on campus, you and everybody else that believes that bullshit gon’ feel real fucking stupid when the tests come back negative.” trent voiced as he pulled at the strings of his hoodie with a smirk eclipsing on his face. his anger was well intact but it seemed less and less favorable for him to extinguish it on her for a plethora of reasons. “you ain’t the first person to spew that slavery shit, its comedy forreal but if massa wanna write me a check for my name, image and likeness for hooping, then massa might be the homie. again, you talking about stuff you don’t know about. I challenge you to read up NIL deals or better yet you can come out and get gear with my name on it in a couple weeks. i’ll spot you the first shirt but after that you gotta pay like everybody else.” he smiled as he put his hands together in a praying manner and bowed his head slightly at her before he turned and walked away to head back up to his room.

“as you should, i’ma be asking for a cheer report or something to make sure you doing your job.” he was unaware of how the culture was around the cheer team but from what she had to say it didn’t seem like a close knit group. “we played aight but them refs was tripping too but we on to the next.” he shrugged as he stood near the bar that he had set up for her to use, waiting for her to get in the cage. “huh?” he questioned quickly once she brought up his knee as he hadn’t realized that it was an outward thing he had done. he shook his head as he stuck his leg out and flexed it forward and back, fighting the painful sensation he felt. however he’d do anything to prove that he was in fact ok. “nah i’m good, just a lil sore from the game. I fell hard a couple times but its nothing I ain’t used to.” he claimed as he tapped his hands against the bar and motioned for her to get in position. “don’t worry about me, you stalling huh? these squats ain’t gon themselves, c’mon.” he laughed.

“my tone is fine, don’t be sensitive now.” he claimed as he cut her off briefly between her statements. in all actuality he was rather calm compared to how he really felt and could have been presenting. “it wasn’t a guilt spasm, your stupid show has people bombarding me on social media and its annoying as fuck. not to mention, its fucking with my future. it might seem like tea to you but this my life that you’re fucking with. no NBA team is gonna draft a player with shit like this circulating around their name. in a week nobody around us will care but NBA scouts will always have this in their reports about me.” he tried to explain but more and more he was getting infuriated by her lack of care and blase demeanor. he didn’t expect her to really understand where he was coming from as it was clear from everything said on the show and what she was saying now that it was just a business to her. and that was understandable but not acceptable. “I promise I don’t give two fucks about the bitches spreading rumors about you being a whore, or wearing shoes that are outta season, that shit don’t matter.” trent paused for some time, remaining quiet as he took a deep breath. the conversation had left him with the same amount of info he had before which was nothing and it seemed he was wasting his breath. “ion need nothing from you actually.” he said as he clapped his hands together once. “the more i’m standing here the more i’m realizing you probably just gon’ take whatever I say here and put it on your show again. but its all good, cause its a business right? so i’ma act accordingly.”

the last thing the male was trying to do was be apart of any stress bearing conversations or altercations while on the vacation but with topics from the radio show still lingering, trent needed to talk to one of the messengers. the athlete stood tall leaning against a table with his hoodie on and shades on as he waited for the woman. he had been through a lot of emotions and had many conversations, most of which didn’t go well so his hope was that this one wouldn’t follow suit. “you really joking right now?” he questioned right away with his stern tone immediately showing what kind of mood he was in. sure they had joked about nicknames previously but now wasn’t the time. “you give me what I want and I might give you something in return. first, who the fuck told you that information about my coach? ion know why you though that shit was cool to drop but it wasn’t. this is my fucking future you messing with and for what? to be the hot topic for two seconds? c’mon, b.”

“you wanna be cheer captain but ain’t even tryna know ya own teammates, how that work?” he questioned with a chuckle. he was well aware that women’s sports had very different dynamics than men’s sports so he was very interested to hear the perspectives. “whoa, whoa chill out. I can’t speak for the others but the others but I know avery works hard, cut her some slack.” the male said as he continued doing the stretches. “that game was bullshit and them niggas was ass. they had to injure our players to win, that’s how you know they was sorry but if you don’t mind, i’d rather not bring that back up. i’m focusing on the next one.” trent expressed as he shook his legs out, as he was starting to feel some painful sensations in one of his legs. he hissed silently to himself as he looked down at his knee and reached down to rub it. “oh, yeah I got you.” he said as he tried to shake the pain and went over to help her. trent was positioned behind her as he pushed down on her back once more, aiding in her stretch for the fifteen second count. once it was over he released his hand to let her come back up. “aight, how you feel? we gon’ start with squats, get the legs out the way and then we’ll get into the rest.” with that he walked over to the empty cage to get the bar set up for squats for her height.

“you telling me avery, juelz and chelsea not right there witcha’? ion know how cheer work but if this was hoops we’d be set.” the male laughed. he felt the need to get a little stretching in himself as he followed his own instructions and reach for his right leg for a quick set. “the extra shit is what separates you from the pack. anybody can do squats but not everybody is doing weighted lunges, RDLs, and kettle bell swings.” he explained as that was how he learn to love working out and living in the gym. “basketball started it but now its second nature to be in here. I used to hate it like you but now I feel weird if I don’t workout.” he answered before standing up. trent then went behind her and placed his hands to her back. “now go down the middle, i’m gonna push you forward little by little to get the full stretch.” once she was ready and in position for that he applied some light pressure and pushed her forward for the fifteen second count. after that he relieved it and went back to his mat but remained standing. “two feet together, touch your toes then after that spread them again and do both sides.”

he brushed off her comment knowing she wasn’t always pleasant in the beginning but he didn’t take it personally. he slipped his phone into the pocket of his shorts before walking over to grab some mats for the both of them. “carrying the squad, that’s crazy.” he chuckled as the laid the mats down and occupied one of them, leaving the other for her. “its at least two or three solid girls on the squad. at least that’s what it looks like.” he explained though he knew that she probably was more aware than he was. “probably not gon do as much leg work today, maybe some squats, and lunges but that’s it. go head and sit down, spread your legs and reach for the right leg with your left arm. we gon’ do each side for like fifteen seconds.”
