In November, I embark on the 15th year anniversary as a creative entrepreneur and the launch of my creative business treiC designs LLC. It’s been an AMAZING journey, with a lot of success and a few failures. I have learned a lot and continue to evolve and reinvent my brand through the years. Building a brand as an artist doesn’t happen overnight, it’s built with consistency in sharing your story, blended with your personal values, understanding your ideal customer, colorful imagery, creative partnerships, and in my case teaching my passion through workshops, books and magazines.  This month in my DREAM BIG creative business incubator program, we are taking a deep dive into DIY BRANDING, something I have over 20 years experience. It’s one of my favorite topics to teach and something most artists don’t focus on during their career. In my program, I share numerous creative exercises to help you brainstorm your brand along with stories on how I built my career as an artist. Throughout the program, you'll receive insights into creating multiple revenue streams from your art. In upcoming modules we cover LAUNCHING your online course, developing a teaching platform, writing/marketing a book and creating an author platform. My goal with this program is to shift the mindset from "staving artist" to creative business VISIONARY. To help you move from hobbyist to FLOURISHING artist, so you can create more ways to make a living selling your art. one of my FAVE tools to use for printmaking and pattern design is recycled #cardboard. there are many ways to use it as a printing tool. here are a few ideas... 1. cut pieces and dip it into ink then print designs 2. stitch raffia through cardboard to create a textured printing plate 3. draw designs onto cardboard with hot glue to create a stamp 4. glue string and raffia onto the cardboard to create a #collograph 5. cut strips of cardboard and glue them to another piece of cardboard  6. check out pages 14, 42 and 51 for more cardboard ideas in my book #PrintmakingUnleashed grab some leftover cardboard and have fun printmaking! join me for a Printmaking Unleashed weekend studio workshop October 17 & 18! http://www.treicdesignsdigitals.com/products/printmaking-unleashed-weekend-workshop how do you use cardboard for printmaking and painting?

You are an ARTIST! Make a simple art journal + idea book from your painted papers and chipboard. I heard a comment the other day about not having time to make a journal. Here’s a quick an easy project to make a mini journal that can be made in under 15 minutes…actually if you already have painted papers it only takes 5-10 minutes! Mini art journal+idea book tutorial 1.paint patterns w/ @goldenpaints High Flow Carbon Black on chipboard. 2. this journal the cover is trimmed to 8.5" x 8.5" 3. gather your painted papers or misc papers, cut to any size that fits into the cover.  4. fold the papers in half and tuck them into the chipboard cover 5. optional stitch together papers to create a fold out 6. zigzag stitch over the fold  7. collage and stitch “artist” over the top TIP: “artist” stencil print is from my @stencilgirl_products “journal words” stencil tip: it’s better to use a zig zag stitch than a straight stitch so the journal doesn’t perforate and tear apart. tip: I like to use random sized misc. papers tip: include b/w prints of your artwork #mixedmedia #artjournaling #tutorial #artjournalPLAY
