you can’t tell if someone is “really trans” by the way they present. you can’t tell if someone is “really trans” by the pronouns they use. or by their opinions on literally anything.

the only way to know someone’s pretending to be trans when they’re not trans is by hearing a 100% serious “im actually pretending to be trans” from them that isn’t “im worried I’m faking it” which many people experience.

all other ways of “telling if someone’s pretending to be trans” are simply transphobia, and all people who claim they can tell if other people are “faking it” by the way they dress, their interests or anything else of that sort are transphobic.

“biological sex” as a concept has two primary purposes: the legitimization of misogyny (women and men are biologically different and therefore should be treated differently; it’s not misogyny if it’s fair treatment appropriate for “biological differences”; also statements of women’s “biological inferiority”) and the delegitimization of being transgender (“no matter what you do, you’ll forever be a woman/man, it’s just biology”).

Biological sex was “created” as a concept to describe the differences between male and female bodies without saying… idk, “the one that fucks” and “the one that gets fucked” or “the one that makes eggs” and “the one that fertilizes them” (though I’m sure scientists would have something more articulate.) Whether people started using the biological differences (which already existed before “male” and “female” were being used as terminology, which I don’t think you seem to understand) has nothing to do with the fact that labeling things is helpful. Just because someone gave cats and dogs names doesn’t mean they were encouraging the debate of cats versus dogs. Weird simile but I’m sure you get what I’m saying. I really don’t see your point here. The purpose of biological sex is for medical treatment depending on your body’s sex. You can be a man, but if you are biologically female you’re going to need female medical care (birth control, pap smears, idfk) and vice versa. Also, some diseases affect biologically male and biologically female ppl in different ways or in different proportions. It’s not to belittle either sex, it’s to make sure that trans ppl can still recieve the health care that they need.

question: what is the purpose of defining said medical treatment that way? why are we so insistent of defining medical care trans men can need as “for biologically female people”? what would change for the worse if we defined it as “for people with a certain reproductive system/set of organs”? why do we need to define trans people as “biologically not the gender they are” rather than defining the health care that they need in a manner that doesn’t suggest their gender? what changes in this case?

besides, it’s, how do I word it, strange to suggest that the healthcare needs of a trans man on T are exactly the same as those of a cis woman — why do we feel the need to group trans people with cis people of their assigned gender even when their transition clearly makes a difference that needs to be taken into consideration?

“Nounself pronouns are ableist!” I’ll give you that they are not accommodating for people with learning disorders, or people whose first language is not english.
