he notices her slight change in demeanor before she recovers. is she already catching on? the investigation team has gathered information before, but not like this. it’s almost as if he’s doing something wrong, though he knows he isn’t. they’re not trying to take down the phantom thieves or anything – at least, not unless they find out the phantom thieves are doing evil things. there’s no use in trying to justify it to himself; this is the path he chose, so he has to continue pressing forward. albeit, carefully.

I. the rainy season arrives in a down - pour, listless and preventing . she is running through the puddled streets when she bumps into a friend, who sees her without an umbrella ( again ) and offers to provide them both cover . the walk is silence, hidden smiles behind shy bearings . morgana chimes in now and then, but it is peace . they arrive at school on time, and before he takes a step, she grabs his collar and pulls him down for a quick kiss on the cheek while no one is looking . a nervous demeanor is no - where to be found ; she’s grinning .
II. at school, a seat is empty ; red bows are missing . it’s revealed to the group that she’s caught a cold ( it’s not the long hours of shifts, she swears ! ) and she may be out - of - commission for a while . the curly - haired boy knows where she resides, so a visit is made with the homework she missed . she is weary, but thankful . before he leaves, he presses his lips to her forehead and asks her to get some rest . before the magician can respond, a troublesome child peeks in the doorway and yells, “ ew ! shi’s brought a boyfriend ! “ the eldest child looks at akira and smiles apologetically, answering with : ` i’ll see you soon . ‘
III. the metaverse is filled with secrets of its own . one such being the cat that becomes a car . questions are pending . the small group piles into the car, with joker holding out his hand to a nervous bunny . newly - freed, the phantom thief hesitantly grabs his hand, unsuspecting of the kiss he lays upon her knuckles . bunny stammers, stutters, and flushes a bright pink while sitting down . ( though she’s unsure of it all, the gesture gives her courage . )
IV. his room is clean, quiet . her hands are dirty and bruised from blisters and blood . a sharp hiss is inhaled every time the disinfectant is pressed to her palm, and an occasional wince here or there . ( akira noticed the bruises when she waved good - by ; she initially brushed off the worries, but he won’t have it . ) bandages are wrapped carefully, gently, and she watches with an observing eye . he finishes and she’s hurrying to grab her things ( ` i have a shift tonight, i’m sorry ! ‘ ) . before she runs out the door, toshiko presses a kiss to the corner of his lips with a quiet thank - you .
V. they are bruised and war - torn, bloody and weary . another heart changed, and their efforts show . exhausted, they sit down ( though it could be called falling ) and breathe . bunny glances to her right, where joker sits, just as bloodied as she is . slowly, she shifts closer, leaning herself forward to brush the hair from his eyes and lay a kiss on his forehead . ` a reward for a job well - done, ‘ she calls it . a head rests on his shoulder and almost immediately, she is asleep ( with a smile on her lips ) .

before toshiko was allowed to get a job, she was a notorious shoplifter. it’s not a skill she would ever teach her siblings, nor does she feel comfortable doing it now. but she would often steal food or clothes for her siblings, or toys around their birthdays or christmas. toshiko was only caught twice at the start of it (roughly between ages 9-10) and her mother was forced to pay it off. from that, she quickly became a skilled thief in the realization that there was no point if she got caught.

anything happening to her siblings is a GUARANTEED breaking point. this is the one thing that holds her back from becoming a phantom thief, as the police are investigating them and if they found out toshiko’s identity, they might be inclined to figure out the house situation. her single, biggest fear is her siblings being taken away and put into foster care, which is why she works so many jobs to give them the childhood she never had. without her siblings, she’d lose her motivation to carry on, and it would be extremely obvious. (i can’t even begin to describe how broken and devastated toshiko would be if her siblings were harmed or even killed because of her work as a phantom thief. she’d quit immediately.)
in the metaverse, toshiko is a very powerful thief. with the persona houdini, she’s a strong magic / persona - skill user, but fairly weak when it comes to gun and physical attacks. both houdini (initial) and circe (maxed rank) come equipped with both elemental attacks and buffs. if houdini doesn’t learn all but two buffs, or the buffs are forgotten, then houdini will naturally learn every elemental attack (fire, ice, lightning, wind, psi, nuclear, bless, and curse). the trade - off with this benefit is that houdini can’t learn physical attacks, nor will he be able to learn the more advanced moves such as mabufu or garula.
toshiko also has below - average health, making her a risky party member. however, it does relieve the stress off of the player when concerned about having the right elemental attacks, so with the right amount of health items, she’s an extremely valuable member.
