People often ask me, “Paul, what do I do if I’m painting from a reference and the head is cropped out?” The only thing you can do in that situation, my friend. Model: Bun http://cummbunny.tumblr.com

“For seven years I spoke with God. He told me to take us all to Heaven” - Pinbacker, Sunshine (2007)
Painted my chumski, namely because I got to paint a tattoo. In a bid to one day sit an actual person in front of me I attempted to speed up my process with this one and it made it rather fun to paint.
I wanted to paint a realistic Jessie from Team Rocket, so with the photo reference assistance of the mighty Sulthind it has become so! I used the colour palette of the actual Jessie, multiplied over the greyscale painting.
I was going to attempt something more expressive but realism is too hard to resist!
Ye gods, here I go with my attempts to eyeball proportions once more and as you can see from Cristian Fasoli’s glorious photo I used as reference, I made a lot of fuck ups which I basically rectified to fit the painting rather than to fit the reference. Still, onwards we go.
Day 2 with the Cintiq 13HD, I think I’m getting used to it now. I’d like to start eyeballin’ proportions again, having now got a good foothold on the rendering process, but I couldn’t get the proportions right for this after a ton of attempts so I outlined the reference. I also want to do more textured paintings, less realism more expression. I guess.
Another render study of Sammi since once again the tones are amazing and the last time I painted her I think I lightened this skin too much. But alas, I bought a Cintiq 13HD yesterday so I’m brushing the dust of my skills before it arrives.
Consume
I painted my chumski Charley in the suit of Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal because she doth love it so, with the eating and the people.
Something I painted to while away the hours without internet. Wanted to try a slightly more textured/dynamic rendering style. Models: Angie Marie & Keira Grant Reference By: Mikey McMichaels Reference Link: http://mikeymcmichaels.tumblr.com/post/98741317355
Here Be Dragons
I haven't actually read nor seen either of the two TGWTDT films, I have the Swedish version of the film somewhere. Nevertheless, as I was scrolling on Tumblr the other day I saw a nicely lit screengrab of Rooney Mara and decided to paint her.
Space And Time
Painted for the most excellent Jodie for her birthday. I'm rather chuffed with how it came out, I think it's the best rendering I've done so far, which is good because she's one of the most prized folk in my fuzzy life.

Happy 2nd Birthday Blog!
I have neglected this blog, or at least, I haven't posted for a while. I really want to keep it as a place where I just upload my digital art, of which the combination of time and overall success of finishing a painting basically render this ideal as a rarity. I will aim to give it a custom theme in 2014 which might inspire me some. In any event it's already shown me the progress I can make if I persist at a craft. There is nevertheless, a constant, agonizing failure of showing weakness and failure though. But hey, that's art.
I made an appropriate image for the occasion!
