“I want you.” There was a note of desperation in his voice when he said it, as if she might not believe him. “It’s always been you.” Trip stared into the eyes of his co-star, and for a few seconds the room was dead silent.
“…And they kiss.” The director of the episode summed up the scene, and the room was filled with the sound of pages turning as the rest of the cast and crew followed along. “Now, obviously they’ve kissed before, but this is their first time being intimate, so everything is new. Maybe a little awkward. Terrifying, even.” Laughter. “So, you two,” he said, motioning to the pair, “no rehearsing, okay? It needs to look natural. We’ll film it however many times we need to, to get it right.”
Trip nodded in agreement, but the statement inspired one of his male co-stars to let out a catcall. “And this is why you don’t get to be on set,” Trip said, glaring daggers at the guy, though he couldn’t hide the wry smile on his face that told of his amusement. His smile softened moments later as he caught the eye of the girl sitting across the table from him before ducking his head in mild embarrassment. They had become friends, after all. It was hard not to when they all saw each other every day for several months. Castings, filming, press junkets. They were like each other’s second home by now.
They sat through at least another half-hour of the table read before breaking for the day. The younger actors congregated together momentarily, discussing plans for later that evening. As people started filtering out, he hung back to talk with Sofia. “Hey,” he said, sporting a playful grin when he approached her. “You excited to finally have sex with me?” It was a hell of a lot easier to joke about without everyone else watching.
