self depreciation isn’t a sorry. saying “im sorry i did that, im such a fuck up and an asshole and i never do anything right.” is not an apology. acknowledge what you did wrong. say you’re sorry for what you did to hurt them. say you know it upset them and you shouldn’t have done it, not because you’re a fuck up, but because you recognise your error and want to make up to them. apologies aren’t about yourself, they’re about the other person.
