Apartment in Amsterdam by Mamm Design
This is a renovation project of a duplex unit in an 85-year-old housing for a family of four. Since they have not been brought up in Amsterdam where they have a lot of gloomy weather, their request was to have maximum sunlight in the house. And also they want to have a space where they can feel each other.
Suggested Design Point: Tap on The Line, Richmond
Tap on the Line is a setting a new standard for traditional station pubs, attached to the platform of the existing Kew Garden train station, located in Richmond, United Kingdom. The pub has coffee, pastry and breakfast service, starting from 8am for the locals who passes by on the way to work or morning lovers whom prefers to have their morning appetite under the sun, in a lovely historical atmosphere.
The existing two storey brick building belongs to mid-Victorian railway architectural style, gently preserved and renovated by the local design company Concorde BGW to transform the old timber steaming hall into this intimate and exquisite pub. As the only existing example of a station with an attached pub among London Underground network, Tap on The Line is a rare and unique spot for Londeners.

Design Product Preview: Indochine Chair by Cassina
Indochine revolving chair series are designed by French pioneer modernist designer Charlotte Perriand, dating back to 1943, today being produced by the renowned furniture company Cassina. Recent version of the iconic chair was presented by the brand at international fair Salone del Mobile 2014 as part of the collection by Charlotte Perriand.
Supported by a wooden frame and structure, the swivel armchair has a unique form that reflects Perriand’s design approach that made history at the time during the war in Vietnam. Leather upholstery is available in many colors, yet hazelnut brown version is the one that you may encounter pretty often. For the structure finish, solid walnut wood or brushed black ash wood is predominantly used through the production. Dimensions are 61 cm x 56 cm with two height options, 46 or 71 cm back rest.
Perriand states her functionalist design approach with these words: “The extension of the art of dwelling is the art of living- living in harmony with man’s deepest drives and with his adopted or fabricated environment.” Cassina collection represents the artistic and historical value of the Indochine chair by developing the design with latest technology and gentle craftsmanship techniques.

Farmhouses with an interior surprise: Halsingland
Spread across a valley in Halsingland area, north-east Sweden, seven timber farmhouses has something special inside. Surrounded by the Taiga forest landscape, these houses have richly decorated interiors, a representation of the prosperity of the owner, based upon their social and economic status at the time.
Dating back to 18th and 19th centuries, Kristofers farm, Stene, Järvsö, Gästgivars farm, Vallstabyn, Pallars farm, Långhed, Jon-Lars farm, Långhed, Bortom åa farm, Gammelgården, Bommars farm, Letsbo, Ljusdal, and Erik-Anders farm are the exclusive examples among other timber farmhouses around the district. All representing the timberwork building tradition of Middle Ages, however decorated rooms are the main reason for them to be a world heritage site.
Rooms that are especially designed for occasional events and festivities clearly reflects the social status of the land-holders. Local or itinerant painters and artists were commissioned for the decorations of each house, predominantly integrating popular art with Baroque and Rococo techniques within biblical subjects. Most decorated rooms were only being used once or twice a year, staying empty and preserved through other time of the year.
The style can be regarded as a fusion of North-west European folk art with local architectural language and approach, representing both the agricultural value of the region as well as an artistic approach for special occasions and how it is blended with lifestyle and interiors of the dwellings.
