it kills me to think I might just be a temporary chapter in your life, but honestly, i’d rather be a fleeting footnote in your story than the main character in anyone else's.

“We just got to accept that some people can only be in our hearts, not in our lives.”
— Kathy B.
There is a literal weight on my sternum right now, like a concrete slab i’ve been carrying around for weeks, but i can’t seem to open my mouth and let any of it out. every time i try to put the feelings into words, they just get stuck in my throat, choking me.
It’s this awful, pent-up energy vibrating right under my skin, turning into anger or exhaustion because it has nowhere else to go. i am so full of things i need to scream, but instead i’m just sitting here, breathing around the pressure, completely trapped inside my own ribcage.
woke up with the taste of you still on my tongue, but the bedroom was completely freezing and empty. it’s the worst kind of grief, losing someone who was just there a second ago behind your eyelids.
spent the next twenty minutes just staring at the wall, trying to force myself back to sleep to find the rest of the dream, but it's gone. you're gone. now i just have to carry this heavy, hollow feeling around all day, homesick for a place that doesn't even exist when i'm awake.
it’s a literal mental torture, watching your own brain switch off the lights one by one until you’re completely hollowed out. you’re still breathing, but you’re trapped inside a skull that’s actively tearing you apart, just waiting for the rest of you to die.
it’s the absolute exhaustion of pouring everything you have into a black hole. you spend every single day reading into the spacing of their texts, the tone of their voice, the way they look at you—constantly hunting for a sign that they care even half as much as you do, while knowing deep down they don't.
you're entirely consumed by them, and they're just... casually existing. it's humiliating, honestly. sitting there by your phone, practically begging the universe for a crumb of their attention, realizing you’ve built a whole universe around someone who barely notices when you walk into the room.
True story
And if she shares both with you, consider yourself lucky.
one day someone will hold your heart carefully instead of making you apologize for having one
Before I let you go, I have to admit I begged the universe to make you stay.
I think we feel it the most at night because at the end of the day our hearts just want to be home, but our homes aren't always where we rest our heads.
I hate when people call this corny!
