The Two Witnesses of Revelation 11 or the Apocalypse
As a child, I was fearful of reading the Book of Revelation or hearing it read. The âLast Daysâ prophecies were scary to someone my age who understood only horrible deaths would occur in the future. I knew that I did not want to be part of the terror of that time. I knew, even more, that I did not want to die and be damned to hell. That was when I was a child. That was when my knowledge about God and the Bible were being comprised particularly from pastors, ministers, reverends, who preached sermons to warn people that hell would be their eternity for committing and not repenting from their sins. The responsibility for my soul was a never-ending thought since childhood and my understanding of death was limited. When I became an adult, linked through a series of life experiences and events, I sought more in-depth information that was not being addressed by the clergy from the Christian faith. These are things that I received revelation concerning the Book of Revelation, and I want to take a space of time to share these things with others who may feel similar, have âhardâ questions, or is simply curious about learning what is in the passages of Revelation that make it so difficult for people to want to study it.
I want to specifically concentrate on who the two witnesses are in Revelation and what a portion of their mission appears to be when they visit man. First, I want to discuss who these two witnesses are. Next, I wish to explore the powers given to them. Then, I will examine their mission. Lastly, I will scrutinize signs for whether prophecy about them match a previous historical account or if evidence that their visitation is in the future.
In The Book of Revelation, chapter 11, two witnesses are mentioned. These the two witnessesâ powers resemble powers that Moses and Elijah have used in similar manner. When Moses demanded pharaoh that God told him to âLet [His] people go, that they may serve [Him]â he performed various miracles and brought plagues on Egypt. Moses turned water to blood. Between the witnesses-or they may share these powers-the power to turn water to blood is evident. I think it is safe to believe that when we read about these powers the witnesses will possess, it is to identify who these witnesses are and to let us know what they will do while on earth.
And the Lord spake unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams, upon their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water, that they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
More compelling evidence that the two witnesses will be Moses and Elijah is, if you remember that they were present on the mount that Jesus took three disciples (Peter, James, and John) where He was transfigured before them. Enoch was not there. Also, it was written that Enoch would not see death. (Hebrew 11:5) And if you think everyone will die, the following passage may change your outlook on dying:
Behold, I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.
I have not neglected the verse concerning death for all mankind. Evidently, the appointment for all mankind to die is a decreed with an exception.
And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
I have heard that the two witnesses are allegorical and not physical men. Um, scripture depicts them as men because it mentions they will die and their bodies will be left in the streets for three and a half days before they resurrect:
8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
9 And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
The Two Witnessesâ Powers
These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Moses was given power to plague Egypt. These plagues can be found beginning in Exodus 7. As you read in Revelation 11:6, the two witnesses were given power to plague the earth as often as they want. Elijah shut up the heavens that it did not rain on earth for three and a half years when he was here before. This power will be with the two witnesses.
And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
Scripture records that they are two witnesses representative of the two olive trees and two which stand before God. (Revelation 11:4) These are symbolic measures that I have not studied long enough to give the significance. However, I do know that God always requires two witnesses for a testimony. Their main mission is to bring a testimony to the people on earth. (See verse 6.)
6Â Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
Their other mission is to restore Godâs government and resettle His chosen people in the land He promised to Abraham. Before Israel is reunited and returned to the Promised Land, they must know who they are and accept being governed by Godâs laws. Â
Current religion is divisive and broken. Religion resembles government under a deity. The division occurs because everyone believes his government is exact and true. Since no government demands its people follow Godâs laws or be ruled by His commandments, you can see how it is simple for lawlessness to drive division through religion. Serving God is not religion. Serving God is obedience. Serving God is accepting His governance and upholding it.
Godâs laws have been established from the beginning of mankind, Godâs government is not ruling any nation. Remnants of His government style are seen in all proclaimed religions-accept Satanists and among atheists who have no belief in deities. Under all the governments in the world, none of them strictly adhere to the laws given to Israel to uphold. None-including the people who profess to be Jews. Jews uphold the Talmud above the Tanakh (and Bible). The two witnesses are coming to address this.
At the helm of all we see, a race war is bursting at the seams in America. Pay close attention. Do you really believe that God favors one race of people over another because of their skin color? Or is Godâs people under attack because of who they are and their skin color happens to mask this? If you know your enemy and how he works, you will know how to defeat satan. Heâs the instigating liar. Heâs deceived much of the world in obscuring who Godâs chosen people are. Step back and observe what he did and how it is unraveling. It is prophesied that Israel will reunite. It is known that they would lose their identities while living among the Gentiles and other nations. It was prophesied that they would suffer in the Transatlantic Slave Trade (taken back to Egypt by ships and sold as bondmen and bondwomen) and that their land would be taken by the Gentiles as was the Native Americans. It is prophesied that the Gentile would invade and steal Israelâs people and lands and establishing their own government purporting to do so under the guise of establishing and carrying out Godâs will. It happened. And prophecy aligns with the restoration of Godâs people and His government and the two witnesses are important to this last and final Exodus of Godâs people.
I can even see how they will make way for those who want to live under Godâs government to abide by His laws and keep them. The land that God established for His people who will uphold His commandments is being trampled on by the Gentiles until Israel unites. Once they unite, God will ensure their move from out of Egypt, the second Exodus, back into the land He promised Abraham. This is the final stand. The Two witnesses will be responsible for preparing God's people to enter the land and the return of Christ to rule is inevitable.
There is an end of the Gentiles and there is a judgment. The end of the Gentilesâ rein is imminent. They are in decline. satan knew that once he saw this, he has little time left. That is why he is raging but to his own demise. satan is speeding his destruction and heâs using all hateful means to do it. It is disconcerting how racism is so rampant among professed Christians. There is that divisive religion again. The Gentiles have their view of the Bible, and then there is what is written in the Bible which is just. You cannot have a heart full of hate towards anyone because you are in a position to openly abuse others at your whim and without recourse or accountability. That is Gentile Christianity. Gentile Christianity established chattel slavery as being ordained by God. They spread rumors that this was what God wanted and are still believing the lie that God established slavery. True Christianity is followed by those who uphold God's laws and commandments and statues. Check your life. Just because the gentiles translated and spread the gospel does not mean they did it as God intended. They are too blind to see that the very book that belong to Israel was given back to Israel in the United States of America when they force so called African and Indian ancestors to accept it and practice their very own history. (America is not the only place housing Israel. We are everywhere. i happen to study specifically Indian and African American descendants.)
It will be so horrible here that the two witnesses will be needed to steer people in Godâs direction. Man is always seeking proof for validating their acceptance of his choosing. These two witnesses, combined with their powers, will influence masses of people to consider, listen and return to God or perish. I suspect that their powers alone will not be too great a significant wonder except they will be virtually indestructible in respects to manâs powers.
24Â For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
So, I revert back to Egypt where great signs and wonders were presented by pharaohâs magicians. During my studies, I learned that the Egyptians were aware of and made use of powers that we would call magic or miracles. Genesis 20:3-13
Nevertheless, this âbeastâ will overcome them. (Revelation 11:7)Â When I read these things, I know that there will more likely be a showdown like Moses and Aaron. Context in scripture reveals that there may be others with demonstrative powers (none as powerful) because if people do not repent in droves and surrender their lives under Godâs authority or government (we know they do not because of the people rejoicing when the two witnesses meet their demise), then we know there is an opposition that is so against God that sending the two witnesses will not cause everyone to seek Godâs government. There will be a powerful influence or other government that will be accepted by many and will obviously be in place because of opposition to the two witnesses. It will be a government in opposition to God.
 What you see worldwide, are prophecies revealing continuously.
6And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
8Â But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9Â Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10Â For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
 These man-made and demonic sufferings, though tragic, are also contributors to distracting the people from what is most important: what will happen to their souls when they die. Many will die for whatever circumstance or reason. The primary issue is getting people to understand that they must get in rightful standing with God prior to death, which we learned is appointed unto man, though we know not all men will see death. Turning from their wickedness is the first step. Being that sacrificial laws for redemption or atonement (once performed by Godâs priests) was covered by the Messiah for purchasing mankindâs sins to keep them from going to hell if they repent and obey Godâs commandments/laws/government, acceptance of the Messiah as our Savior is going to be our choice. God already explained that the only acceptance for atonement of our sins is through the Messiahâs blood. This means falling under the headship of Christâs representation as our Savior and accepting He is the only and true way to being redeemed for our sins.
21Â For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22Â And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23Â Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24Â For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
