In retrospect, after listening to Fine Line a few times over, I’d just like to touch on how soft and tender this record is in contrast to how bold and brash hs1 was. there’s a growth there in maturity both in the handling of emotions & the connectivity expressed. HS2 reaches its fingers down and touches yours whereas HS1 flew above— too high to catch.
because Fine Line is personable. It meets you for coffee at the break of dawn. It’s the voice crackling through the receiver of a late-night phone. It warms the passenger seat as you drive to clear your mind. It’s the hand cupping your cheek when tears begin to spill. It’s the sweet encounters shared with those you’ve yet to met. It’s the clap of thunder and the heaviness of rain. It’s the raking of nails lightly over skin. It’s the gaze of the moon through the clearing of skies. It’s the voice besides yours as you speak quietly to the ceiling at night. It echoes in your chest as a reminder to breathe. It slips through your ears like you’re floating on top of a body of water— weightless and free.
