2015: MY YEAR IN PHOTOS
January: I flew to LA and made a whole host of new friends, and visited and stayed with old ones. I shot images for Jaguar,Calvin Klein a couple of modeling agencies, and some of Nick Zano, and actor and now good buddy. We both love photography and when he came to NYC we went to the Danny Clinch exhibit at Milk. I didn’t want to leave LA, and I knew I had to leave Philly.
February: Dustin assisted me on a lookbook for Julia Haart Shoes. One more month in Philly I stayed. I miss hanging with Dustin and my other roomies; that was definitely a fun house to live in. I gotta take a day trip there soon.
March: I said goodbye to a girl that would greet me in the morning and snuggle in between my legs at night. I miss her every day, and I know she’s doing well, and I think about her often, but I know she’s in great hands and is happy. I also moved back to LI; 2 feet of snow welcomed me back.
April: Another month of freelancing, did some work for Gawker, Phillips, and again Jaguar. April also saw a very brief relationship with someone who just dropped me out of nowhere. I guess I was too much, but that’s just how I always am.
May: Another short lived fling. The story behind it is amazing but I don’t want to think about it. I also shot a lot of male models for MAJOR, that’s Mike up there.
June: The highlight of June was going to the Firefly Music Festival in Delaware with miss Zella Day as I did some work for her with Hollywood Records.
July: I started a series called “Free Cable” and worked with some amazing women. July is also the month I met someone who, honestly I can’t even put into words how I feel. Somethings just, somethings just make sense…
August: At the beginning of August I shot some images for HALSTON and their PS16 line, some of those are my favorite images I’ve shot thus far, but the favorite memory of the month goes to one of my oldest friends getting married. This is a guy who called me from Afghanistan to wish me a happy birthday. We don’t keep in touch that much anymore but he welcomed my date, and we had an amazing time at the reception.
September: In September I shot some images for the SUPRA the skate footwear brand, under the Manhattan Bridge. The end of September also saw me getting the investment I worked my ass off to get to start my first company.
October: I lost my dog in October. Tyson was a great dog and he fought and lost a very quick battle with cancer. I stayed up with him all night. We gave him steak and ice cream, and I had comfort from my special someone. That morning he sat in my lap as he slipped away, and on my way out of the vets office the people in the office couldn’t even bring themselves to look at me. I hadn’t cried that hard in a long time. I wasn’t a good dad to him at first, because having a dog was new to me, but I realized that he loved me no matter what, and soon we were best of friends. I miss him everyday, and he’s up there waiting for me at his big window.
November: I shot my second wedding since becoming a photographer 8 years ago. As much as I liked it, it reminded me of things I was supposed to do and never did. Weddings are weird for me. I also had a birthday in Novemeber- 31 years old. Some friends and I went to the hole in the wall strip club a couple blocks from my workspace and we had an amazing time. I bought us a lapdance and I still think about the magical look on your face.
December: December has been a weird month. I shot some more images for HALSTON. Sometimes you just don’t see certain things coming and they throw you for a loop and you have to adjust, because if you don’t you lose. I started a series called ORGASM, that I promise I won’t give up on.
2016 scares me. I don’t know what’s coming, who I’ll meet, where I’ll go, or what I might lose. But then again, isn’t that what makes life great? Not knowing?
