Hi Taylor! I didn’t realize until now that all three of these pics have something to do with New Year’s Day (the song), so I thought I would start the post off with a lyric from it. :)

First pic: NYD connection - polaroids. That’s just a pic of me - my name’s Haley. Nothing fancy, just thought I’d show you what I look like. 😇

Second pic: NYD connection - the lyrics. A little over a year ago, I got this line from the song tattooed in your handwriting. It hurt horribly, but it was so worth it.

Last pic: NYD connection - literal New Year’s. 😂 This is me, my sister and my mom on New Year’s Eve 2016 going into 2017. We were at a stand up comedy show in Chicago. That trip (we live in Nebraska) is one of the last happy memories I have of my mom, so I kind of cling to it often. And it reminds me of the song, so that’s a bonus.

My mom was my best friend. She was diagnosed with cancer in fall 2015 and passed away in summer 2017. The exact date was August 10. My absolute favorite song of yours is This Love. You may not remember, but exactly one year later on August 10, 2018, you sang that song as the surprise song at your Reputation tour stop in Atlanta. I literally could not believe it.

My Rep tour date was a month later. I had written a really long letter to you and posted it on here. Kind of like I’m doing now, I suppose. In the letter, I mentioned a few times how you always seem to show up for me exactly when I need you. And there you were, singing my all time favorite song of yours on the one year anniversary of the worst day of my life. I couldn’t believe it.

I took that as a sign that I would meet you at my show. I didn’t. But I still had the time of my life with all of my Swiftie friends. Your music and the friends I’ve made through you have gotten me through some of the worst times in my life.

I just wanted to write this note to you to let you know how excited I am for this new era. I can’t wait to hear the new songs and dance with you on tour again. It would mean the world to me to get to hug you and thank you for all you’ve done for me. I’ve loved you since I was 12 and I love you just as much at 25. Even if it never happens for me, I hope you at least see this and know how much I love you. Thank you for it all, Taylor Alison. 💜
