Lammy finally decided to go inside. It wasn’t that bad. In fact, this was a pretty regular bar.
She sat on one of the bar stools and asked for a glass of water.
‘God, what a loser. Asking for freaking water. Well, I’m too poor for alcohol, so I guess that’s that.’
Halfway through the glass, she stopped feeling self-conscious about her drinking choices and actually started to enjoy her outing. She was finally starting to feel more like herself.
She looked down at the bar and saw... bats? Someone was approaching the stool next to hers and she was sporting bats on her tights. Man, that was cool. The girl sat down and ordered a cocktail of some kind. Shit, did this mean that they were gonna to talk to each other?
Now Lammy was pretty self-confident. Her only problem was that she was pretty self-confident back at home, in her own environment; black-tie parties, fancy cocktails and sophisticated people...
Of course, she hadn’t spent her entire life locked up inside the house, she had seen all types of people back in the big city. She had just never... talked to them.
And there she is, her first night out on a strange town, and just 10 minutes after she sat down, that beautiful girl sits right next to her.
~ Hey, Mariela! How’s it going? - said the bartender, looking to the left of Lammy.
‘Seriously?’ - she thought - ‘I’ve always wanted to talk to people who were brave enough to wear bats on their tights... and who were cool enough to actually pull that off. And now the gods have placed this one right next to me. Wait, is that a skull on her chest? Ooop, it definitely is... have I been staring for too long? Shit, she saw me, shit, shit, shit.’
Mariela’s voice rose above the song playing on the jukebox.
~ Hi there stranger. I’ve never seen you here before.
