First update (December):

Didn't like the proportions, squished them a bit. Also started fleshing out the rest of the kit.

Blockout (October):

I've been making these little modular half-timbered houses for a side project with some friends. It's been a really nice break from everything else that's been going on:)

Life has been getting in the way my painting lately, but I managed to carve out an evening for this quickie speed paint of a Freeguild Steelhelm painted as a Maelstrom foot soldier for a coworker who is running a FFXIV TTRPG.

Alright it's Night Lords...BUT...I'm tempted to kitbash Vispyrtilo out of those.

Yes! Same! I'm glad I never got around to actually assembling my Vis kitbash. Gonna wait until the new Raptors come out and then mash ALL the things together and see what works. Probably give the wings from Chaotic Beasts a go as well, I feel like the Scourge wings are a little flat.

So happy about finally figuring out how to do that prismatic effect (sword, last bit I did). I think I'm gonna do another one in this style to make sure I can reproduce it. I wasn't going to paint my whole army like this buuut...

WIP on Warhammer Miniature of the Month:

This month is an Emperor's Children Tormentor, so he must be pretty... or make your eyes bleed.. maybe both.

UPDATE:

Okay, I think I'm finally done w/ him. Added cracked base, regular dirt didn't have enough texture.

WIP 03

Got him on his base! Still, feels like he's missing something..

WIP 02:

Fully painted (still needs some touchups), started working on his base too, which is probably going to take a full 24h to dry.

Finally figured out how to do the prismatic thing by the time I got to his sword, which is completely hidden under his gun... As I bonus since, I used florescent paint for my highlights he looks kinda fun under blacklight. Kinda just experimenting with that base. I cut out the symbol in a bit of cork, the swirly stuff came out fiiiine, probably should have thinned it more. Black blobs are where his feet are, which I'm just realizing now that I probably should have drilled out holes in his boots to pin him to the base *before* I painted him...

First time trying to do a prismatic effect, not going great, but that's what free models are for!

Ended up making is base out of two part epoxy cause there wasn't a base in the box for him. It's fine, he's just a little mini of the month guy. Gave me a good excuse to try out some new mud and gravel that I was thinking of using for my Armies on Parade board.

Update:

Flipped the shovel on his back around so he can be a little more interesting from the front. Also: I think I need to change the light in my little photo booth, I didn't realize how dark it had gotten.

WIP on MotM:

Really happy about how this is working out. He was holding a gun in his left hand that was kind of a pain to remove, but it looks all right. Should be able to get him wrapped up tomorrow.

Too teeny, too tiny, too cute. The bigger stalkers are next, though I do need to take a break from them to knock out the MotM for the competition at the end of the month. I have plans for him, and MANY shovels.

Work in progress:

These are the Harpax 'Swarmer' Scout Host from Legions Imperialis: Stalker Constructs. Figured I'd start w/ the guys that were probably gonna give me to the most trouble. They are too teeny, but that's also what makes them too cute. SO, yeah. Got talked into doing Armies on Parade this year. Decided to do the Legions Imperialis Dark Mechanicum robots. Theme for the army is All Mech, No Flesh (Toasters Only). Mostly just doing the bug looking guys, might throw in some battle-automata just to have fewer legs to paint. Still trying to figure out the best way to paint these guys. Started with dry-brushing over a base coat. Then brightened it up and added some highlights on the second one. Gonna do trim and their lil noodly bits tomorrow.

DID IT Yeah, I know, that Master of Possession is ROUGH. He's still WIP, but good enough for tabletop, which was the bar for the challenge. Lizard boi is gonna take a bath in iso and get repainted. I tried speed paints again and I still don't like them for more than just fancy washes. WIP - Master of Possession staff

Started working on a Master of Possession while waiting for the AdeptiCon Preview Show to start. I'm using him as a test model to try out the colour scheme I want to use for my Emperor's Children. First time trying NMM too. Very much thinking about snagging some Space Wolf heads for few of my noisy bois, might try some daemonette heads too (if they're not too small). I want my EC to have more mohawks, plaits, and crazy hair styles.

Cutting it a little close, local competition is this Saturday. Pretty happy with how the oranges turned out. Could probably use some crispier edge highlights, but Slaanesh calls to me and I want to start digging around in that EC box.

WIP Assembled: Totally glued my fingers to the model while trying to get those lil arms on. Gonna do the base tomorrow. Probably another muddy one w/ a puddle to match the Striking Scorpion.

WIP Sub-assembly/Basecoat : Decided to embrace the TMNT theme that I accidentally did on the striking scorpion. Kinda weird to see GW handing out another free Aeldari model so soon after the last one, but now I'm kinda hoping for two more.

Got booted from the queue trying to pick up the Champions of Slaanesh box last night, but the guy at my local GW store opened early for me and I managed to snag it! Please enjoy this WIP kitbash of a EC Rypax Cult themed Raptor. Still waffling on if I want to use Scourge wings or pick up a box of Chaotic Beasts and use actual Rypax wings for them instead.

Meeeh, tried some different washes, don't love it. Probably should have thinned them a bit more. Or maybe I should have skipped them all together to fit more of the crayon vibes? MEH! Good enough! It was a long week at work and I can always come back to this guy later.

Update: Just saw this guy show up at the end of another Poorhammer video, wooo!
