Gally was in love. The whole Glade knew it. From the moment she stepped out of the box, she had him wrapped around her finger. She meant everything to him. Nobody messed with Gally’s girl. When she became a runner, it nearly killed him. She assured him she would be safe, and promised that she would always come back to him. Her first day running, Gally almost didn’t let her leave,
“Princess, it’s dangerous out there”
“I know, but there is a way out, there has to be”
“(Y/n) babe, are you sure?”
“Positive”
She had gone that morning, and Gally didn’t stop worrying until she came back. Weeks passed, with the same routine, (Y/n) ran, and Gally worried. It was almost a month later when the day Gally had always dreaded came. The walls had closed, and (Y/n) was nowhere to be seen. Gally had sat by the doors all night, he jumped to his feet when they opened, he looked inside, hoping to see her, but nothing. He sank to his knees. All he could think about was how he was never going to see her beautiful smile, or hear her wonderful laugh ever again. The gladers knew better than to give Gally false hope, knowing that her chance of coming back was nonexistant. The left him to deal with his grief.
It had been months since (Y/n)’s death, Gally had changed. He had become hardened and distant. No glader could break down the walls he had built around his heart. When Thomas arrived, Gally’s attitude hadn’t changed. It wasn’t until Thomas became a runner and insisted that there was a way out, that Gally lashed out. He had held in his anger for too long, but Thomas’s ideas reminded him of her. Gally’s thoughts of Thomas turned hateful, much to Thomas’s confusion. To make matters worse, nobody would tell him why Gally hated him so much. One day, Gally pushed all of Thomas’s buttons,
“Why do you hate me so much?”
“You’re just a stupid shank that believes in something that isn’t there”
“I know there is a way out, there has to be!”
“There has to be?! The last time someone said that to me, she went into the maze and never came back!”
“Is that who (Y/n) is?”
Gally could only nod,
“What was she like?”
“A lot like you, except I was in love, the whole Glade knew it. From the moment she stepped out of the box, she had me wrapped around her finger...”
