All of My What Ifs by gototwo // in-progress, post s10 that takes place 2 1/2 years into the future. I just started reading this one and got caught up last night and I am so far gone for it. this is one of the best fics to me right now, like in the top faves for sure. it is brilliant and painful in that sorta achingly beautiful way that you feel in the pit of your stomach. you know when you read something and you feel the sting of it shoot through your chest and down to your gut? it’s that over and over again and it hurts in the best way, but it’s just so well done and so damn good. read it. you won’t regret it.

breathe again (the air i would kill to breathe) by DC_bookfanatic // nice and lengthy one-shot that takes place over the span of years. this fic has a death trope and does not have a happy ending, (I guess it has a somewhat kinda sorta happy-ISH ending depending how you look at it?). it is beautifully done, but it did collectively ruin the entire fandom when it was first published. it will ruin you too. you have been warned

I feel like jay just upping and leaving is why voight is so quiet this season. I don't always agree with how voight does things but I think after everything he's lost over the seasons (his wife, his son, Erin, Al, Antonio) he was just happy to have Jay working with him like he was and didn't realise just how far Jay had fallen until it was too late. I kind of hope we get a storyline about voight feeling guilty about it and actually changing how he does things, then he can help keep Hailey from crossing line when cases get tough now Jay isn't around.
This is an interesting take that I do agree with. As much as I dislike Hank Voight, we can all agree that he is the loneliest person on the team and has been like that for a long time. Since Antonio's departure, he really has gotten so much closer to Jay, grooming him to be the future leader of Intelligence. In some way, Jay was Voight's moral compass. So losing Jay is definitely affecting him. He lost another person that he cared about. Jay was like a son to him. He was the only person in the unit that had been part of Intelligence since day one. So I'm sure all of that had affected Voight. And that could be the reason why Voight is very quiet and in the background this season.
so, you’re telling me that hailey, who didn’t take off her ring for the presumably months that jay didn’t answer his phone (not even when she found out he applied for an extension from his supervisor!), who never once talked shit on his name, who leaves him messages telling him she understands, who encapsulated their apartment from the time her husband left, who said “miss you, love you” maybe 24 hours before, just decided to take off her ring on her own accord and we’re supposed to believe that? that’s the storyline they think we’ll buy into? it’s not an honorable memory for jay halstead because jay halstead would never do that. it’s a shitty take on a couple who fought tooth and nail to be together when they were put through the ringer. two characters that stood by each other’s sides, brought each other out from the dark time and time again both as partners, friends, boyfriend and girlfriend, and husband and wife who were summed up to both doing something as an act of self preservation when their only form of actually self preservation in the shithole that is intelligence was ALWAYS EACH OTHER! hailey should have never been put in the position she’s in, but sadly, with the way the writing has been going for her all season… she’s a ghost of who she is at the core. she can’t just endure trauma after trauma and be expected to be okay at the end of it all. especially when the people she has in their life either 1) can’t be bothered to care about her at all (looking at the team who has known her for years tbh because what the fuck?) or 2) continuously abuse her vulnerability as a means to wear her down. the latter of which hank voight does all the time. he’s either scolding her or pretending like he cares, all in the name of achieving a certain outcome. sometimes both at the same time. last night was a perfect example. the hailey that sits and drinks with him and apparently takes relationship advice isn’t OUR hailey. it’s not the hailey who was pissed that this man was dragging her husband down with him like he also tried to do to her. so, who is this version of hailey upton aside from someone who thinks they deserve the pain they keep putting her through? how did “i swear to you that we’re going to get through this because you’re the love of my life” turn into ignoring phone calls and never coming home and “miss you, love you” turn into hailey taking off her ring? it’s a joke. it’s pain for the sake of pain. there’s no light that comes from any of this. it’s not growth or healing or digging yourself out from the dirt. it’s inexcusably bad writing.
tracy deserves better. jesse deserves better. hailey and jay, both as characters and as the couple we all know and love, deserve better. my heart hurts for them. and for us.

She sees him. At first, she thinks her eyes might be playing tricks on her. She saw him everywhere, everyday for months after he left, but that hasn’t happened for years. Hailey knows those broad shoulders and that resolute stance. There is no mistaking the body she knows as well as her own. She couldn’t forget it if she tried- and God, she tried. For the first time in two years, six months, and twenty-eight days, she sees him.
Hi! So, full disclosure: I tweaked some things in this story and in the tweaking, this chapter ended up being a little shorter than the others (just a little). There was also a version in which Jay and Hailey don't interact at all, so that took a little tweaking too. All that to say, this is a little more of a transition chapter. Less action, but still important. Happy reading!

if she was there she would've left yesterday. also the girl he hugged... there's like an 87% chance she's just a fan. // please explain to me why he's hugging and holding a fan's hand like that in front of his house and after being seen carrying breakfast for two. like i would like to know where the conclusion that she's a fan comes from apart from the article noting that she posted art about him before.

I just don’t buy that they are not in contact anymore. Plus the sun article was so specific like the first one that was true. There’s too much mess in this “break up” for me to believe it’s just a “break up.” Something is going on for sure. Looks like we’re going to have to wait longer than expected
I think it was a leak and they’re genuinely upset over it. Matty unfollowing people speaks volumes.
Taylor was already having issues with things regarding her fans… everything in May and she just wants to be happy with someone she’s loved for ages… and someone who worked for him ended up backstabbing them. No - I do not think it was Patricia. She is not the only stylist working for them. She runs the team of them. No I don’t think he cheated on her with any of them, despite what Twitter Stan’s think. I think someone in that department decided to leak something and was fired for it. The knee jerk reactions of Matty unfollowing people is one indication. The extreme level of the denial is another.
Also - the article from people is a report. Previous articles are an exclusive. Meaning it came straight from Tree and / or has information not available anywhere else and is from an exclusive source. Reports like this one is not confirmed or is not the first source. When it comes to Taylor’s people - they always have some sort of exclusive to people. Something we haven’t gotten yet. This was a knee jerk PR cover.
Thoughts on the Matty's pap walk? Taylor always did one after a breakup, she didn't do for Matty, tho. And the fact he is doing one after today's mess is kinda funny. It was definitely something she planned.
He reminds me of my son when I drag him out of the house and tell him to smile and be nice to people.

With how fast that rebuttal came out - I wanted to wait a few hours and watch it play out.
The Sun article read much different then the others and it didn’t read like another tabloid fodder article meant for clicks.
The writer is also the editor of entertainment news for the Sun. He has a clean record for reporting. He has proof. Whatever it may be. And knew that if you want to hold integrity in a situation like this then you have to do something of good will. He gives the team a warning, he drops the article and some ridiculous denial goes out. Then it’s in the clear for whatever the agreed time is then he drops it with an exclusive.
It’s smart business.
It’s possible the Sun has been sitting on the article for a bit and gave their people a courtesy before releasing it. Then they were able to throw in a retraction extremely quickly.
This leak was not supposed to get out. Someone let out information from the label and this - and yes, it’s likely someone who knows the band well. I’ve heard that the Sun is sitting on images and as a result, they’ve likely made a deal with Tree to hold onto them until a bit after speak now and then have the exclusive to post them first.
The denial saying they don’t talk. At all. Like come on. No one believes that. There’s been more than one person (Swiftie and non Swiftie alike) come out and suggest they’ve seen her in places where Matty was in or close too. Plus the denial came on really fast - almost like whiplash. So not only did they have knowledge it was coming… they planned on it. Tree is usually silent when it comes to break ups or rumoured dating etc. she also lies to the media a fair bit (that happy Joe article)
Then Matty does a pap walk with his mom. Granted he doesn’t look like he wants to be there. At all.
