Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die has eaten my entire brain.

This book is so fun and has fun characters and the worldbuilding leaves SO much potential for a sequel. I need to learn more about this book's universe. I need to know more about the other societies Larnia makes contact with. I need to know the next 30 years of these men's lives!!!

I do wish the books had some chapters from Merulo's point of view. He sounded so surprised when Cameron insisted people only like him for being pretty. Merulo saw something else in him, and I don't think Cameron ever figured out what. I need to know what Merulo was thinking in that moment!!!

I had to get this thought out before chapter 5 came out. I, Tumblr user @thepreciousthing, hereby cast my hat into the ring for UTDR theories.

I talked about it on Reddit a few months ago. It really sticks out to me how nearly every couple in UTDR is the same species of monster. Either that's an INSANE coincidence, or there's something else going on.

This is what I said about it on Reddit:

So we know that Monster funeral rites in Deltarune are the same as the ones in Undertale, meaning there is precedent for DR Monsters having similar biology to the UT Monsters.

In Undertale, Gerson explains how aging works in Monsters:

When they have an offspring, the SOUL power of the parents flows into the child... Causing the child to grow as the parents age.

Meaning that soul power is transferable and its transfer has a physical effect on both the giver and recipient.

I'd like to put forth my theory: Monster marriage rites also involve a transfer of soul power.

Unlike the one-way transfer between parent and child, however, the betrothed couple have an equal exchange between themselves, and they end up taking on bits of each others' physical features, eventually becoming a matching couple that looks like a mix of both.

For example, Toriel and Asgore may have started out as, say... a sheep and a bison. On their wedding day, they had an exchange of SOUL Power, thus finding a happy medium between their features and turning them into goatlike creatures as a result.

This many not happen exactly the same every time; Maybe one Monster has more SOUL power to give, thus their features become more prominent. Or maybe there are parts of the wedding ceremony that the couple chooses to skip, circumventing the transfer all together.

The story of Tobias' parents are SO tied up with their identities as an alien and a mortal human, I kept rotating Tobias around in my head trying to figure out how I could make him a demigod.

Then I remembered I'm dealing with the Greek Gods and the solution became crystal clear.

Even if it's by way of second-hand DNA, Apollo will absolutely adopt Tobias, no questions asked. Red-tailed hawks can have a loving, attentive parent & a bunch of sunshine siblings. As a treat.
