Seven days ago Colombians have been protesting (yes, in the middle of a pandemic because the goverment happens to be more dangerous than a virus) for a couple of reasons like a tax reform, health reform, murder of social and enviromental leaders and alarming increase of femicides. The things is, protests in all the cities have always been peaceful, but the goverment is not only not listening to us but ordering to attack us and kill us. We're being noticed by others thanks to social media only (like twitter, facebook) where people are using hashtags, making livestreams and asking for help because the media in our country isn't speaking for us, we're being silenced and censored so the international media and other countries don't know about the abuse and violence we're going through.

All we want is other people know about what's going on so we can get the help we need, I'm using this platform to make it possible because the censorship by the Colombian media prevents the world and even colombians themselves from seeing the excessive abuse of the armed forces.

I feel like I have to say something because I keep seeing it all over my dash and on the trending posts.

Adam Toledo wasn’t black.

He was not black. Adam Toledo was a young brown Latine boy. As a brown Latine myself, please don’t erase the fact that he was brown. Brown people deal with police brutality and racist bullshit all the time too. He was a young brown Latine boy.

On top of that, Adam Toledo didn’t even die in the past few days. He died on March 29th. You’re only hearing about it now because they released the body cam footage that disproved their claims that he had a gun. This was a young Latine boy that died nearly three weeks ago. You are only hearing about it now because of the bodycam footage.

Say his name. He did not deserve to die, he was a child who’s only “crime” was not being white. This is just another anti-Latine crimes in a long list of them, both at the hands of pigs and at the hands of racist pieces of shit. On top of that, people tried to muddy the waters and tried to blame Adam’s death on him by trying to make him a threat. He was a child against a heavily armed cop. He could not be a threat, especially because he was fucking complying. The police system cannot be reformed. Abolish the police.
