Focusing on yourself gets you everything you want; focusing on what you want gets you caught in a cycle of constant pursuit, leaving you unfulfilled and with nothing. When you invest in your growth, the things you desire naturally come to you. But when you fixate solely on the outcome, you lose sight of the journey and the person you’re becoming along the way.

How can we learn to appreciate our own worth? Where does it come from?
Your self worth is the value you believe you have as an individual. A belief about your worthiness and value, irrespective of external circumstances, achievements, failures, or the opinions and approval of others. When you have a strong sense of self worth, you feel worthy and deserving of love, respect, and happiness, regardless of your accomplishments or how others perceive you.
The foundation of self worth comes from early childhood, through our parents and teachers. Positive reinforcement, love, and support without strings attached. This grows through your achievements and how you handle setbacks. It's not just about the wins, seeing failures as steps on the path to growth can really boost how you see yourself.
Now, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others, especially with social media painting pictures of perfect lives. But remember, your journey is unique, and that's what makes you valuable. And let's not forget the world around us is constantly bombarding us with messages about what it means to be "worthy." It's crucial to sift through those messages and decide for yourself what makes you valuable.
Think about what you value in yourself and celebrate that. Setting boundaries is another way to say you value yourself enough to say no when you need to. And when things don't go as planned, be kind to yourself —this is self compassion in action. Connecting with others who see and affirm your worth can also help reaffirm it. Whether it's picking up a new hobby or learning something new, personal growth is a really good way to feel good about yourself.
In a nutshell, appreciating your self worth is about recognizing your inherent value, not because of what you achieve or what others think, but simply because of who you are. It's about embracing the whole package, flaws and all, and knowing that you're worthy just as you are.
