“We should put music on, don’t ya think, Stevie?” you asked, smiling at him with a sweet, soft grin.
“Fantastic idea,” he said, gazing back at you with his loving eyes. “I have cassette tapes in the back, you could choose of you’d like-“
“No it’s fine,” you interrupted, bringing yournbag into your lap. “I have one I want to play.”
You fished out your mixtape, which played all of your favorite songs, and slid it into the stereo. Pressing one of the buttons, your most favored song, Tous les garçons et les fille, began playing as you rolled down your window.
The sound of a guitar strumming and the soft beat of a drum filled the car. The slow melody was what put you in an instant trance. It’s almost as if the music influenced the movement of your arms and hands.
“Tous les garçons et les filles de mon âge. Se promènent dans la rue deux par deux,” you sang, bringing your hand outside of the window to feel the harsh wind brush against you skin, the other hand brushing through your hair. “Tous les garçons et les filles de mon âge. Savent bien ce que c’est qu’être heureux.”
Steve looked at you in awe, the sight before him was as beautiful as the moonlight that shone over them. The moonlight casted upon the darkness of the canyon and complemented you beauty. He was sure that his pulse was loud enough for you to hear.
“Et les yuex dans les yeux. Et la main dans la main. Ils s’en vont, amoureux. Sans peur du lendemain,” you continued to sing, aware that Steve was gawking at your presence.
You pulled out a cigarette from the pack Steve had in the cup holders, and turned down the volume of the music.
“Lighter please,” you asked, sticking out your hand. Steve handed you the lighter, and lit that cigarette. “Want one?”
Steve nodded, you picked one up and brought it to his lips
“Open,” you directed, steve opened his mouth while you put in, lighting it up too.
Overlooking the darkness of the trench, the two of you sat in the car in complete silence, enjoying each other’s presence with music playing in the background.
“If you could go anywhere, where would you go?” Steve asked, sitting lazily in his seat. You thought for a moment, wanting to be truthful about you answer.
“I’d love to go back to Marseille, France,” you sighed, taking the cigarette in between you index and middle finger. “Most of my best friends and family are over there, and it’s so better compared to here.”
“Anywhere is better than here,” Steve stated, inhaling the cancer stick. “I wish I could go somewhere, but I can’t really think of where to go.”
An idea struck you like an arrow hit its target.
“You could always come with me when I go to my home town,” you offered, finally look up to at the brunette boy. “I can always arrange something for the both of us I think we’d have a lot of fun.”
“I’d love to, but…” Steve hesitated. “I don’t want to be a burden.”
“Steve, you’re never a burden. I love having you around.”
“Really?” the boy asked in disbelief.
He definitely wasn’t expecting that answer, let alone combing from you. This was when things got serious. You turned to him, looking at him dead in the eyes.
“I always envy people who are in love, and love to be around people that they love,” you started. “And you, Mr.Harrington, are someone that I am deeply in love with. So would you do me a favor, and come to France with me this summer?”
Steve was now astonished, something like this has never happened before. Usually he was the one who gave the “I love you” speech.
“Steve, say something, or i’m changing my mind,” you warned.
“Of course, Y/n,” he blurted.
Suddenly, you grabbed the collar of his shirt, and smashed your lips onto his, closing the gap that had separated the two of you. It took a bit of time before Steve finally gave in time the kiss. Your hands ha placed themselves onto this jaw and hair, whil his we're placed onto your throat and waist.
"Fuck, your gorgeous," he said into the kiss, wanting more.
"Oh stop it, Steve," you giggled, teasingly hitting his chest.
"But it's true!" he exclaimed, pulling away from the intimate kiss.
"<Oh, Stevie. Je ne vous mérite pas, et vous ne me méritez pas. Tu me flats tellement au point que je crois que tu es trop bon pour moi. Tu es une personne tellement romantique, je t'aime tellement>, " you said, with some sort of elegance in your tone of voice. (translation: <Oh, Stevie. I do not deserve you, nor do you deserve me. You flatter me so much to the point where I believe that you are too good for me. You are so such a romantic person, I love you so much.>)
Steve was just absolutely stunned by you. He had no idea what you said, but it sounded so beautiful to him.
"I have no idea what you said, but it was hot," he admired, adoring you presence.
You laughed again, finding a sort comedicness in his claim, "You're adorable."
"Adorable? I would think myself as handsome, but that's fine," he joked.
"That, too," you replied, now sitting in a more relaxe and comfortable position.
"Y/n?" Steve asked, turning to face you.
"How do you say, 'You are my beautiful girl' in French," Steve questioned, seemingly being genuine with his question.
"Tu es ma jolie fille," you recited, bringing a sense of emotion in your voice.
"Ok, then,” Steve said. “Tu as ma jolie fille, mademoiselle.”
“Am I actually?” you asked, perked up at the comment he made towards you.
“Of course you are, beautiful,” he said. “You always have been.”
As the two of you continued to converse, the moon had brightened even more than it usually has. The moon was never this beautiful, but within your presence, it was the prettiest it could ever be.
It’s said that a full moon symbolizes the blossoming of a new and profound relationship. The moon, that night at the canyon, just so happened to be full. While the moon also symbolizes beauty, Steve just so happened to be with the most beautiful lady alive. You were most definitely his moon, and he was your sun.
