Audio sure is a key aspect to animation, huh? Motifs, sound effects, and themes all contribute to adding a layer of personality to the world, grounding the characters in musicality. Here’s the opening to the recent TMNT show, I’m sure the audio was a crucial component towards the animators’ understanding how to go about animating this theme song. What a beaut.

Gaming as a Visual Medium:

Skullgirls was a fighting game created by Lab Zero studios. The game emphasizes quick and satisfying action through its expressive and dynamic character animation. In this presentation, head animator Mariel Cartwright details how the team employs key animation concepts to communicate the weight and force of the attacks of every character all the while having to stay underneath a frame limit that maintains the high octane tempo of the game as well as conpromising with the programming crew to ensure the animation is within the limits of the game. It’s an interesting video, doctors recommend.
