Whoops- almost dropped those permit papers. I actually sketched proportions this time but didn’t get the body looking quite normal, don’t look at it upside down 😅. Also will be posting 2 today since I had an anxiety attack yesterday

Okay there’s a bird art coming but first I’ll have you know: I opened Pinterest to find my bird pic as customary, I think my phone had more than 20% battery at this point. I proceeded to get distracted going down rabbit holes. When my phone was on 1% I plugged it in, barely even looking away. Still Pinterest. It’s now at 99% -_-

I’m gonna go find the bird now.

Day 6 drawing Grian as birds on Pinterest! Today’s a snowy egret, I kinda wish I’d done the legs in pen bc the marker’s thick

I like the background and vibes of this piece. G is definitely more bird than human here

Trying to figure out how people draw grian perched on people’s shoulders and make it look like he’s not about to fall off lol

It’s the center of gravity that makes him look balanced or unbalanced! Normally a human’s head, ribcage, and pelvis are in a line (loosely) to keep the center of gravity centered. If the legs are doing stuff other than standing straight then (again loosely) if you draw a line from the head to the ground then that’s the center of gravity. Your art (which is very cute btw) looks a little “off” to you because Grian’s center of gravity is behind his feet, so he looks like he’s gonna fall backwards bc gravity would pull him that way. All you gotta do is think about where his weight is.

TL;DR when perching keep his head over (like in line with) his feet and generally you’ll be ok.

Also never hurts to try the pose yourself! See if you can perch on the arm of a couch or something, but ofc not too high up

I hope his helps! Weight is super tricky in art, especially with fantasy avians and stuff

Day 5 drawing Grian as birds on Pinterest! Today we got a Mallard 🦆 POV you thought solid ice was water and tried to land on it. Fun fact ducks can water-ski but not on ice, or at least not very well.

Grian with green hair? More likely than you’d think! I’m so pleased with how this lil “splat” turned out, and I’m actually having fun with art again?!

Day 4 drawing Grian as birds on Pinterest. I believe this is a young Harris Hawk and today feat. Mothbo!! I’ve been wanting to draw Mumbo moth for ages, his colours and patterns are based on a cinnabar moth ^-^

Didn’t stick very close to the ref today but I was trying more to capture the vibe, and I’m pretty happy with it. I love all Mumby’s lil arms heheh they’re so adorable
