Lyrics in fanfiction. Why?
Whenever I read a fanfiction (yes I do that) or look at a tumblr post that has lyrics of some edgy song made by some edgy depressed singer I always imagine the singer just intensively tapping on the keyboard like some mental keyboard player, and I imagine the singer just singing random notes with the lyrics.
So like a couple years ago I was reading some Undertale fanfiction and there was a fanfiction where the main character (that happens to be a reader character, I absolutely despise reader-fics now) was a singer, and had the ability to sing a song that matched the theme of the person she uses her power on. So she does one for Sans, and the lyrics are like ācmOn kid, just ResEt the timeLine, plEaseā like jesus fucking christ can you be any cornier and obvious smh.
SO when I was reading that I was like āok thats just stupidā and I was imagining some girl (cuz it was a female character) just derpily singing those lyrics with no rhyme or reason to the notes that she is singing.
I sometimes also find people that just link the song itself into the fanfiction. Not long ago I was reading a āMy Hero Academia and Justice Leagueā crossover fic, which hey I thought that was cool cuz I know both of them and it sounds interesting.
The fanfiction writer proceeded to put links to āsongs that would fit this current sceneā at the start of every scene. Like fuck off. If you canāt bother creating a mood through writing, and instead have to depend on a song to set the mood, then donāt bother at all.
Thereās also those people who put lyrics into their bio or into a tumblr post, and Iām just like, why? Yeah I get that you absolutely fucking love that song to the ends of the earth but not everyone knows what the fuck that song is, for all I know its just some edgy depressed teenager that hates their mum. And Iām not gonna search the lyrics for the song because why would I? I donāt care about the song that youāre copy-pasting the lyrics to just because you love the song.
yeah so thats why I hate seeing lyrics in a fanfiction or a description because noT everyone knows what song theyāre from so theyāre most likely just gonna imagine some person singing really badly.
Btw this is just my thoughts, this doesnāt represent the opinions of the other artists in my page. So donāt be buggin them just because you think they are a hellspawn for associating with me, cuz I think that I just wrote something that a lot of you donāt agree with.
