Real world abuse enforces real world patriarchal ideals that much is true. However, fiction is entirely capable of tackling these abuses and criticizing the systems from which a narrative is born. Reality affects our fiction.

Antis have this misconception that implies they can spot a groomer if they like xyz media or if they’re a proshipper or if they like taboo fiction and I’m begging them to drop it now because that’s not what grooming is and this is not helping 

Grooming is a specific manipulation tactic which is usually carried out by an adult against a minor, but grooming can happen to anyone at any age, even to adults! 

grooming is not a proshipper/kinkster or anyone else existing on tumblr or social media without bothering anyone, grooming is when an adult befriends a minor very quickly and starts isolating them from their friends and family 

grooming is not someone making their kink fantasies public (with proper tagging), grooming is when an adult talks to a minor about intimate details of their life, their sexual relationships, sends this minor adult content to “warn” them about it, slowly desensitises them to it or if they call this minor “mature for their age” 

Even if we lived in a world where taboos in fiction and people glorifying them didn’t exist, it wouldn’t stop grooming from happening. Abusers will and can use anything to get close to their victim, movies, books, candy, tv shows - or even toys

grooming is always a pattern of specific actions and behavior and it’s important to realize this, to call these things out, stop focusing on the tool someone used because they’re not important, tools are replaceable even
