Time, so much but so little.
We always quantify time as a definite value, we think of it as something that is measured and quantitative rather than being objectively immeasurable. When we have lots of time on our hands we tend to not be able to realize the value of the time at our hands, when we have very little time we value each and ever second as if it was our last. Bear in mind that I refer to the usage of time in every activity and not just in reference to our time in our lives, however limited. Time as per my limited understanding seems to be a part of our daily lives that is unpredictable, hard to quantify and even hard to affect. Time passes by as an individual identity, hard to influence but independent in its velocity (If that is the way to refer to its passing). In situations where we are not stressed or worried by the hustle and bustle of daily life time passes by on its own accord, at times faster than we can imagine or at times deliberately slow. In situation where we are stressed on the other hand, it passes by with a painful snap with the passage of every moment, it makes us realize that there is a looming threat or deadline of some sort. You may say that this is completely dependent on whether you view the glass as half full or half empty but that's where our views differ. What I ask of you is to think back, think of a time where you were absolutely in a crisis, where time is what you needed but time is what you did not have. Think of how it passed and how in the passage of every moment in particular you felt that you might have utilized it better than you did. In having done so you may see the harsh reality. The human psyche, having been developed in accordance with our barter system, our great economic and educational systems as well tends to focus on what we could do or what we might have done rather than what we did and ho well we did it. This is not a flaw but another piece of the unsolvable puzzle, the puzzle that defines why we think in certain ways and ever why we act in certain ways but furthermore why do we see and experience things the way they are and not in any other way. In reference to my original statement, time that way is absolutely random and its perception changes from person to person, so much so, that I may be under the false presumption that eighteen years of life makes one hardly wise on many matters whilst you may think that even ten years of life make one wise.
Time therefore is not quantifiable as a unit, it is not a number, it is the occurrence of moments such that they define how the next moment and the previous moment will be faced in the future, past and present. No, this is not a joke or a science fiction movie quote. Think deeper and you will see that the way you use every second does invariably define how you use the next one and view the previous one, your constantly thinking mind tries to re-assure you that you have done right or even wrong in order to influence the next seconds that you experience such that 86,400 such seconds go on in one day. In a year, 31,546,000 seconds pass by, leading to infinite futures, pasts and present scenarios that vary from absolute to indefinable levels. In my life this far, I have experienced 575,664,428 seconds of that very nature to this very moment right now. What does this mean then? It means that my life is not just a set of numbers, it has been fast and slow, boring and fun, happy and sad in the very space of these somewhat unreliably quantified digits. Therefore, time as a whole is much more than numbers and much less than what we think it is.
" Time is Undefinable."
Here's one of my favorite pieces of poetry on the subject of time, I hope you see what I see when I read the same sentences pieced together to change a perception.
"The golden pendulum sways methodically
Demanding thought and respect for an action that should not be As the clock ticks, time passes unnoticed By those who are consumed to overflowing Patience, a quality once prevalent, is in want Whirls of color blur past, rendezvous at the grave; too late Too late to appreciate the simplicities Too late to appreciate the sensations; enveloping at every turn, breath Born, live, die...Born, live, die The pinkness of a newborn, the healthy glow of success, the grayish, earthy tint of death As we transition through shades, our life shortens with each turn of the color wheel Not enough time, never enough time Float on the clouds, paint the skies, glide down a rainbow Pause and breathe in the elements A pendulum's movement is not altered by one's inability to observe the fragility that is humanity Let each tick...tock define a moment cherished, unforgotten, frozen in time "

Is arrogance a companion of knowledge?
The other day i had a small experience that made me ponder on the basic principles on knowledge, i was studying for my exam when i decided to visit another room and see how everyone else is doing in their studies. Upon entering the room i saw them solving a past paper and naturally i offered my opinion on the question being answered, but when i gave an answer that was not absolutely straight forward, one of the students sitting there became aggressive and rude. As a student, i had been studying for the exam for a few days and for me to be treated as a hostile by a "one-night before" student was boundlessly confusing. Upon being treated like that, i said "You don't have to shout, it's an answer and as long as i justify it, you really don't need to be so immature." shortly after that, i made my retreat.
After having exited the room, i felt a mixture of strange emotions, i felt angry, i felt confused and moreover i felt sad. The fact that someone that acquired some "knowledge" in a short period of time became so arrogant and hostile through feeling that he was somehow "smarter" or "correct" in the scenario was just mind-boggling. Upon further thought, i began to question the very basis upon which we view knowledge. In our society, knowledge is often linked with absolute power, which as a logical linkage is not possible due to the subjectivity of both knowledge and power. The entire basis upon which this scenario occurred was the inclusion of an underlying element of power that was connected to the possession of knowledge by the student. At times such logic is what causes such connections to be passed on from generation to generation without questioning. Therefore the need for one to question such values of society is paramount in the heralding of change into the mindsets of society. Just by reading this, you are able to share my sentiments or build your own critical opinion on the very issue being discussed, this i feel is one of the most critical factors that helps bring change to the values and opinions of society.
As a conclusion i can't help but say that what happened to me the other day was nothing except for a resurfacing of one of many misinterpretations of knowledge and power that occur in our society on a daily basis, the only way to stop something like this is to change the way our society views things like power and knowledge. At the end of the day it is critical for one to put aside all egoistic issues and resolve all differences as an equal in order to reach a fruitful conclusion to any conflict. That is what i plan to do.
