@tutela-populus: “You’re asking for my help?” The Ace sceptically replied, looking over the exo that was once called a stranger “In the past, I would have shot you down immediately just for you being a Brey. Now…well, let’s just say I no longer have room to be petty. Out with it. What’s the issue?”

Elisabeth rolls her wrist, a vacant feeling where her organic joints would have popped &. blood flowed to the working muscle. Now that feeling is nil, a void that she cannot fill, a bitter angst that has barely subdued with time. A reminder of what has happened in the past, &. what still burns on in her memory now. ( Could that be called trauma ? )
That memory blazed so much of her core—seared &. charred the rims of her artificial brain—that she remembers one sole detail. One that should have been lost between the two of them, between timeline upon timeline that she found herself in. Yet, that single reminder has failed to blend with all the others.
She stands face-to-face with someone from a past life who she cannot even recognise now. But she knows just who it is beneath that mask. The real fear is whether it is a power or weakness to reveal as much.
── ; ❝ Pettiness can only earn us so much in the end. ❞ It took her thousands of lifetimes to learn that. Kindness extends further than an irrational hate. Even if The Ace does not understand that she means this as a form of friendship rather than weaponisation of his past, she knows that one day, the meaning will reach him. She just hopes it’s sooner rather than later.
Elsie walks alongside the Lightbearer, signalling for him to follow. ❝ Such adventure could just be a form of pettiness. Who’s to say this isn’t driven by my anger towards Clovis Bray ? Either way. I wanted help in infiltrating a private Braytech facility south-side of Beyond. It’s a long distance, but the files Clovis left will make the journey worthwhilet. ❞ She presses a gun into the other Exo’s hands, ❝ I’ll be sure to make your effort worthwhile as well. ❞
She won’t state it right now. She wants him to find it on his own.
“Really? I’m the first?” The Spade Leader responded through comms, trailing behind on his own modified sparrow “You sure you couldn’t get that one Guardian? Oh right, they’re too busy tithing for the Hive God of Vengeance.” Yes, turn Eris into a Hive God to defeat one and resurrect another. It was, without a doubt, the most stupid, dangerous and desperate plan he’d ever had grace his exo ears…But it was clear that this was the only plan The Vanguard had on the table. And they were running out of time. Humanity was running out of time…
Which means Rascal was running out of time. He knew that the plan the former Stranger had presented him was the only one that he had left before the clock hit midnight and the fate of existence itself was decided. He only had one thing he truly wanted, and Rascal wasn’t going to face oblivion until he had it. Better to die with all loose ends tied up.
“Knowing your old man, he won’t let us wreak havoc without a little pushback.” Rascal said, speaking the obvious “Now, I don’t mind bringing a few bullets to this firefight, but I got a condition. If you find any files regarding the identities of Exos, including pre-conversion, you hand it to me. Promise me that, hold true to the words or I walk. Period. No exceptions.”
