Remembering Groucho Marx on his birthday, here in A DAY AT THE RACES (‘37)
Hey there, are you in any other groups or pages such as Facebook, Instagram etc?
i am not
Chico Marx, Jerry Maren, Groucho Marx, and Harpo Marx in At the Circus (1939).
HEY GUYS i know i haven't been very active on here lately due to the fact that i'm using twitter more, where i happened to see the above picture being used as someone's icon which is a little weird because i DID make it. i've brought this up before back when they were tweeting the image a lot and kind of let it go, but i'm surprised to see that it's still being used so long after the election and i kinda wish they'd give me credit. if this is any one of you or if you know who it is, could you just credit this sideblog maybe/tell them to credit me? or if they don't wanna do that, please change the icon
people are only mentioning barbara as the former wife of frank sinatra when she was also married to a marx brother (granted she should be remembered for her accomplishments like founding a childrens center that provides therapy for young abuse victims more than who she was married to) but it's just interesting that people aren't also mentioning her marriage to zeppo

RIP Miriam Marx, oldest daughter of Groucho Marx 💜
Groucho and his oldest daughter, Miriam
last night i was thinking about how in the early 1900s to the 60s/70s people got married at much younger ages than they do today, and then i thought “wait, but harpo got married in 1936!” which means harpo was 48 years old when he first got married which is actually pretty late in the game for that time. has anyone thought about this/does anyone have any info relating to this they’d like to share?
He was engaged to another lady, but she ended up dying (I think in a plane crash? I can double check when I’m near my book) Pair that with the fact that he was also very content just being a bachelor, he didn’t necessarily seek out anything serious. When Susan had other plans, they went steady for a while (a loooong while) before finally tying the knot per her request. Luckily, this worked in his favor, since they remained married until his death.
ahh thank you for this

i just sent an email to bill marx rip me
update on this: he actually hasn't replied and im not sure if i should just send it again or send a follow up email or what but it’s been over a month
the best song in all of the marx brothers’ franchise is obviously “who stole the jam?” from their best movie, “l*ve h*ppy”
ya know margaret dumont was in some laurel & hardy stuff so i’m going to take that as proof that the laurel & hardy and the marx brothers movies take place in the same universe.
ok but not only was maggie in l&h stuff but buster was too PLUS he was in limelight with charlie and buster also worked with arbuckle who was in stuff with both charlie AND harold lloyd conclusion: literally all the dead comedians are connected
