Time loop au where Nirei is stuck reliving his fight with Suo. The time loop ends if he gets Suo to stay at Furin.

Suonirei still goes hard bc it's obvious Suo has a soft spot for Nirei and the others can see it too. Suo trains Nirei one on one when he tends to give out his advice/suggestions to their other classmates in public. Suo openly comforts a stressed out Nirei constantly in front of others. He also lets Nirei enter his personal space.

And as bad as Suo did beat Nirei, there was some dignity in that he took on Nirei semi-seriously (cuz he's telling lies/half truths in their fighting conversation but it still says a lot about his mentality). Nirei wanted to fight and Suo could've easily avoided it or have ended it embarrisngly quickly but he indulged knowing Nirei would lose this fight. But it wasn't about simply winning for Nirei, it was about bringing his friend back and letting Suo know how far he's willing to go even if it is futile, Nirei will still try damn it, just like how Nirei went in saving that girl in his intro chapter despite knowing he'd get beat up and earning Sakura's respect toward his character

And Suo's gotta respect that despite the cards not in Nirei's favor at all, Nirei stood his ground regardless when he had every reason to chicken out and be a coward or unsure when up against Suo's skillful martial arts (arguably more threatening than any of the other guys Nirei took a beating from)

Suo went to Nirei, who wears his heart of his sleeve so everyone can always tell what stance or opinions Nirei has, and maybe as a parting gift for himself Suo wanted to see how much Nirei cared for him to know that yeah, they're friendship is real and not as fake as Suo wished it to be, making the goodbye even harder bc Nirei sees worth in Suo. Suo had the nerve to speak on on Nirei's self worth issues and observe Sakura's own self worth issues, but Suo has them too that he secretly hides - spewing that "we aren't anything" cuz surely Nirei couldn't possibly care about him as much as Suo does

And I wonder if Suo was waiting on Nirei to say exactly what Nirei said to Sakura during Noroshi arc, that Sakura's important to him. It's so clear now that Suo also sees himself as expendable like he hasn't put in work leveling up the camaraderie between his Furin classmates, guiding Sakura and training Nirei, Suo was too invested to downplay the friendships he made

I can see the potential rift between Sakura, Suo, and Nirei because Sakura and Suo had a silent instinctual understanding to protect Nirei when Endo popped up initially. Suosaku shared a glance while in immediate reactive defense mode, physically shielding Nirei when the tone changed to unknown danger

And they've gotten used to the dynamic of pre training to square up Nirei clinging onto them when a fight might start, Suo and Sakura willingly letting Nirei get that close to them when so easily they could remain untouchable, they're used to worrying about Nirei who's essentially the weakest of them but endearing in other ways besides brawn (great memory, doesn't hurt he praises them too etc)

Only for Suo to betray the unspoken understanding between Sakura and him about being protectors of their own, of Bofurin, of Nirei, by Suo doing Nirei worse than Keel somehow cuz it's also emotional damage that Nirei got bombarded with along with bloody bruises

Sakura isn't gonna let this slide, I fear, even if Nirei doesn't want Suo and Sakura to fully lose control of their restraints by eventually fighting each other cuz they're all supposed to be friends damn it. Sakura wanted a friendly spar with Suo, like what he and Momijikawa had, and Suo openly mentioned not wanting to accept Sakura's challenge cuz it'd be a pain, but Suo accepted Nirei's challenge, Nirei got to fight Suo when Sakura was the one asking how to get Suo to fight him seriously back during Shishitoren

The angst of a friendship fallout is so relatable, especially since Suo has always never fully been honest (by choice) with Sakunirei like they have to him. It still all boils down to Suo not trusting them, because yeah they only knew each other for a few months, but if you meet real sincere people who like and care for you, it's not about the quantity of time, it's about the quality of the connection. Look at how quality of character formed fulfilling relationships within Bofurin and former enemies/the quick turnaround of Momijikawa isolating to bonding with Sakura/talkative Nirei and socially awkward Sugishita chatting when they had so few interactions.

And depending on Nirei's reaction/reflection whenever he wakes up and relays that Suo beat him up, imho, Sakura will measure how hard he's supposed to respond to Suo's betrayal. Like how Sakura got Nagato back for Anzai and their other friend from Keel after being asked. Especially since Sakura thought Suo was brutal playing with his Shishitoren opponent, and to now know that power was turned onto Nirei - its literally the Sakura/Suo/and Nirei's 1st friendship spat and it's so dramatic 😭
