Feminine men existed and were part of the queer community long before people built an entire identity around a transmisogynistic slur. Having a problem with a culture based around the degendering fetishization of trans woman isn't "increasing binary expression".

If people had chosen shemale, trap or ladyboy instead of femboy as their new label I'd be arguing against those instead. Hell, tme people do call themselves traps, which is extra disgusting considering what that word implies.

Hypothetically, if I wanted to keep trans women in line so that they strictly adhere to misogynistic standards of "gender-appropriate behavior" for women, then I'd accuse them of being "male socialized" (or imply that they are by calling them "4channers") to weaponize the fact that they want to be seen as women - the fact that they may experience gender role discrepancy strain when engaging in behaviors that are deemed "unfeminine" - every time they refuse to be spoken over, every time they stick up for themselves and each other, every time they assert a boundary, every time they act confidently, every time they are more abrasive than I would like them to be, every time they aren't as accommodating as I would like them to be, every time they are unkind or curt, every time they point out transmisogyny, every time they prioritize themselves, every time they refuse to downplay their own oppression and frame it as lesser, as less serious, as secondary etc.

If I wanted to enforce patriarchal gender roles against trans women, that's how I'd do it. If I was a misogynist who had no qualms about weaponizing transmisogyny to control the behavior of trans women I'd call them "4channers" when they are insufficiently subservient. "A real woman 'female socialized person' wouldn't assert herself against me".

Luckily this is only a thought experiment, because I'm not a misogynist.

the thing that bewilders me about a lot of fantasy readers is that they read about settings and plots featuring imperialism, war, and slavery and then call the inclusion of violence, abuse, and sexual exploitation "edgy" and "gratuitous" and it's like what did you think was happening. why were you under the impression that you were going to get a cozy story about fascism or something. far be it from me to criticize anyone for not wanting to read about torture in their spare time, and there are certainly cases where heavy subjects are poorly executed, but is it not equally insulting to sanitize them for a feel-good adventure.. like no one put a gun to your head and forced you to give your fantasy novel an enslaved protagonist. sometimes writing is supposed to make you feel bad
