first farmers market of the season this past saturday! it was so wonderful to walk around and meet vendors and hear their passions and their hearts on their homemade products.  there were also some of THE most gorgeous wildflowers i've ever seen, as well as LOTS and LOTS of amazing fresh-from-the-garden goodies.

also, my friend brought a gorgeous St. Bernard named Charlotte who, quite frankly, stole the show. total strangers were stopping in their tracks to admire her. parents were being dragged by tiny children (half terrified but drawn nonetheless) to pet her. if there had been a dog contest she would have won it. hands down.

you'd think after 23 years id wisen up a little...

but no. i just drank wayyyyyy to much coffee wayyyyyy to late in the evening (read: 45min ago late) and now its 10pm and i have to be up at 7am and im paying for it by not being the least bit close to feeling sleepy, my stomach is in knots, and im super jittery. bleh

So, I was up at 5AM for work (the shop opens at 6:30) and I was there all morning serving coffee to cheery (and not so cheery) people. They are all God's children for sure.. I saw His image in them.

Then for errand time, and how the Lord blessed it! I usually walk into Goodwill on a mission to find something specific.. whether it be 10 pretty teacups and a cream pitcher (my last excursion) or jean shorts or in this case any little old shelving unit to house my foodstuffs for the next couple of weeks.  I don't have that much in the way of food, and it simply isn't worth the hassle of finding places for everything in Wendy's kitchen only to drag it back out again in 3 1/2 weeks.  So, I set about to find something to hold all of my goodies.  Some people might think it crazy to go shopping so specifically in Goodwill, but I've found it is one of the best places for it! There is such a wide variety of items that you're bound to find something either exactly, or very similar to, whatever you're shopping for. and, since everything is cheap then you're guaranteed to get a good deal! It's a win-win for everyone. Granted, (least you think thrifting is all roses and rainbows), some days you'll walk in and find absolutely NOTHING you're looking for. and you will be super frustrated and tempted to run to the the nearest wal-mart or target and just buy the things... but if you suffer through and keep trying, eventually you'll stumble upon the couldn't-have-picked-it-out-more-perfectly-if-i-tried find that will have you laughing and talking to yourself in sheer joy like a crazy person. seriously, its like finding a hidden treasure.

Sidestory: as I was standing in line checking out with my little (awkward) metal bundle of joy, the lady behind me sidles up with two vera bradley bags, one large duffle and one big tote bag- in mint condition. my first thought was that i wished id grabbed them because i know very well i could've made some serious bank off of those things on ebay.. then my next thought was that i actually wouldn't trade her find for my perfect little one for all the world, and i left the store a happy camper and feeling ridiculously blessed by all the little ways the Lord loves this undeserving child of His

the silver screen is calling

i just signed up to be an extra on the show "army wives".  they have this site that you go to and list all kinds of different specifics about yourself, and the times you're available each week plus attach a few pics. then, if they need anyone on their next episode shoot that fits your profile (in my case: short and blonde) they will email to see if you're available. several people i know (including my baby brother) have done it- so its not a lost cause. (and from all accounts, its the catered food that is the star of the day. lol.) hopefully they call, and before i head to Montana. that would be a real bummer if i get something from them after i've already shipped out of the Holy City. i think it would be an absolute blast to do- and if nothing else i'll get some great food out of the deal..

so listen up casting directors.. this girl wants to get some screen time in before leaving Chucktown for the great west!! and don't you worry, i promise to remember all the little people if i make it big

why you ask? dos reasons

1. because i finally got a curtain up over my (bare-all) i mean, beautiful bedroom french doors so they can't be "climbin' in my windows, snatchin my people up". yessiree, its gonna be a sad night for all those peeperscreepers out there that i just KNOW have been watching my every move.

2. i finally have jersey sheets. JERSEY. SHEETS. i have been downright coveting a set of these things for years. every time i would pass by them in Wally World i would tell myself to hold out for that perfect time and place and bed in my future somewheres. well, that time is now, and at this very second i have them safely hospital-tucked underneath me. straight-out-of-the-dryer-warm.
