Fall, like to most, was Janis’ favorite season. Between the cooler weather and spooky holidays, she was excited to be out and about tonight with Addy. It wasn’t quite Halloween season yet, so their towns’ Harvest Fest was about as cliched of a date as they could get, and Janis couldn’t help but to like the idea.

Harvest Fest was more of a carnival, with lots of prize booths, pop-up rides and buildings, and all the fried food they wanted. It was busy enough to where Janis felt comfortable to find Addy's hand and lace her fingers with hers, most of the crowd too distracted by everything else to notice the two girls.

“Like I need to jinx you.” Janis was poking fun, but it was in an endearing tone. She didn’t want Cady to fall face first or break an ankle over fashion, but to each their own. Damian liked musical-themed graphic tees, Janis liked interesting patterns and dark colors, Cady liked her more ‘girly’ outfits, even if it wasn’t her everyday style. “Are you sure I can trust you between classes till Lunch?”

She paused for a moment, unsure how to respond to what was said—although, the redness in her cheeks probably said enough. “Really, you don’t have to do anything for my birthday. It’s never really been a big deal to me.”

Janis smiles-- she cant help to, the expression she was giving the artist was priceless. Someone get a photo, she’d cherish it forever. “Yeah I know, I know. But if I can, I wanna do something special, if you’d let me.”

Janis frowns, falling in line with Cady as they wander off, the idea of the food court disappearing fast. Was she sick? Oh god, Janis wasn’t good at the whole playing doctor thing.

“Are you okay? We can go back to the dorms then--” Janis catches sight of her eyes, even as the red-head desperately keeps her face away. Janis halts with the sudden realization that this wasn’t the stomach flu. Guilt seeps in, soaking her bones and making her muscles feel weak. 

She’s only seen her like this twice.

Once-- when Regina stole Aaron from her on her first Halloween, and again when Aaron went two states away for university, breaking up with her in the process.

And it never was easy to stomach.

“Hey, hey.” Janis’ voice had changed instantly, her tone worried and gentle. The artist closes the gap between them both, Janis had fallen behind again. She rests a comforting hand on her shoulder, like she did before when Cady had a lapse in composure. Gently, Janis steps around the red head to face her fully. “Caty? Whats the matter?”

                      Fair hazel eyes, crackling flecks of gold residing there, look across the face of the other with something akin to amusement. It is so rare that Iaoth takes time for herself, to venture outside of Heaven and her duties for, at least, a minute of some semblance of humanity. It startles her to no end to see the hustle and the manic nature of mankind all around her; their eagerness to get from one place to the other, scarcely spending time regarding the day that had been forged. She supposes this is the way of the world. The humans have duties and responsibilities that cannot be put on hold for such idle things, though it does Iaoth’s heart well to see one in particular basking in the dreary nature of the foggy day. Despite herself, the Archangel approaches.

 “ It is lovely weather we are having, is it not ? Superb for … resting, reading, as I understand, ” Iaoth muses. There is something pleasant about sharing small talk between humans, when her angelic duties do not uproot her from the spot. “ Shall I walk with you to your destination ? ”

The last thing she expected while making the trek to the closest coffee shop from home was to have a stranger approach her with pleasant small talk. This just didn’t happen, right?

She was a little weirded out at first, that instinctual stranger danger kicking in. But a moment passes where Janis doesn’t know what to say, to deflect the conversation or to..welcome it. In her hesitation, shes washed with a sense of overwhelming good from the other-- a strange feeling when most make her defensive at best.

“I think so. I rather have rain than the sun.” Janis mumbles, hands in pockets as she quickly formulates how to go about sudden small talk. They both fell beside each other, Janis not stopping on her leisurely walk to the coffee shop a few blocks away, cutting through a small park now as they continued.

“If I can get your name,” Janis continues, glancing over to the blonde. Was this how you made friends in the city? She only had Damian and Cady, whom she met in high school due to various circumstances. It hits her that she hasn't made a friend in years, not even during her few years she had at university.
