Dio, odio il freddo. E ora nevica come se il mondo stesse finendo. (God, I hate the cold. And now itâs snowing like the world is ending.)
I had decided to take a walk in the snow and now I regretted it immensely. When I left, the sun was out, reflecting off the white snow and now it feels like Iâm in The day after tomorrow. The snowfall was so heavy that I could barely make out what was in front of and I had almost been run over by cars at least three times. And calling for help was impossible since I had no connection and my phone was slowly dying. Fucking snow.
That was when I decided that I wouldnât be able to make it home. Instead I would try to find shelter in the next best building. I continued to fight my way through the cold, clutching my coat around me and hiding most of my face in my scarf. I kept my eyes on the road, not in the mood to break my leg by tripping or slipping. And that caused me to almost run into a giant wooden door.
A door. A building. Warmth!
Without hesitation, or knocking, I pulled at the handle and managed to pry the door open. I stepped inside and hurriedly closed it behind me, sighing in relief. I shook the snow off of me as best as possible before I stepped further inside, leaving a small puddle right by the door.
While I slowly walked further inside the impressing entrance hall, I took off my scarf and coat, hanging it on a clothes rack. Then I looked around.
Now that I actually paid attention to my surroundings, I noticed that I mustâve entered a castle instead of a normal building. The entrance hall on its own was larger than most houses around here. It was decorated in a beautiful way and had two fireplaces surrounded by couches. At the back, two staircases lead to a landing that lead further inside the castle.
âHello?â No answer. I knew I was intruding, but whoever lived here would have to understand. At least I hoped so.
I continued my way inside, occasionally calling out, but I never got an answer. On my way I walked past various doors, most of them locked, until I reached one that was actually open. Inside I found a beautiful, comfortable looking bed. I quickly checked if anyone was nearby, before I entered the room and closed the door behind me. I stripped out of my wet and cold clothes, only keeping my underwear on and jumped into bed, pulling the comforter over me.
HachâŠthat was nice. Iâll only stay here until the storm calms down, then Iâll make my way back home.
I closed my eyes and shut off my brain.
âWhat do we have here?â The voice was laced with venom and hatred, making my eyes snap open. A pale, blonde man stood at the end of the bed, sneering at me. I quickly sat up, pulling the comforter with me, to cover my body.
âWhoâŠAre you the owner? Iâm so sorry I just walked in here, but I was lost in the snow storm last night and I couldnât see anything and-â
âWho do you think you are?â His voiceâŠwas still so hostile.
âExcuse me?â I was confused. Why was he so mean, I was just trying to explain myself.
âI said, who do you think you are? A mere, unimportant, and disgusting human thinking she can do whatever she wants.â Now his voice was barely more than a hiss.
âHey! Thatâs not nice! As I said, there was a storm and-â
âSILENCE!â That was the last straw. I got out of the bed, not caring that he would see me in just my underwear and without thinking I walked up to him and smacked him right across his face. I had to keep down an âouchâ when my hand met his cheek. It didnât feel like flesh but more likeâŠstone. Still, his eyes widened in surprise. And to be honest, I myself was also surprised, but I couldnât let him know that.
âNow, if you would let me finish what I was trying to tell you earlier. I only entered your property because I was lost in the storm last night and needed somewhere to wait it out. And since no one was answering me when I was calling out, I decided to look for the owner, but couldnât find anyone. I only found this room with the bed and thought that I could take a quick rest here while I waited for the storm to pass.â I paused for a second. He was frowning at me, looking like he was about to kill me. So I decided to quickly continued before he could say something.
âIâm really sorry for trespassing, I did not do it with an ill intent, and I will now take my leaveâŠhave a good day.â I grabbed my clothes off the floor and exited the room, making my way towards the entrance hall. While I was walking there, I put on my clothes, not feeling like anyone else seeing me half naked.
As soon as I reached the entrance hall, I grabbed my cloak and scarf and pulled the door open, stepping outside the building.
I sighed in relief when I noticed that the storm from last night had cleared and left only sunshine. Still, I put on my cloak and scarf and started on my way back home, leaving everything that just happened in the past.
âWhat happened?â Aro raised his eyebrows.
âShe hit me.â Marcus chuckled.
âAnd why didnât you kill her?â That was a good question. Why didnât I?
âIâŠI donât know.â Aro and Marcus exchanged looks before they turned back to me.
âCaiusâŠcould it be thatâŠshe is your singer?â My eyes widened. ButâŠnow that I thought about itâŠher smell was intoxicating and drew me to her. I wouldnât have found her if her smell wouldnât have been soâŠaddicting. I looked up at Marcus and Aro, who smiled at me.
âAnd you just smacked him?â My best friend was sitting opposite me and giggled like crazy. Of course, the alcohol was partly at fault, but the story I told her also had its effects.
âYes! I meanâŠhe canât talk to me like this!â I had to yell over the loud music in the club B/F/N dragged me to. She continued to giggle for some time, but when she calmed down, she quickly exed her drink and told me to do the same.
âLetâs dance! Thatâs what weâre here for anyway!â I shrugged and downed my drink, kind of glad that my story was off the table for now. We made our way onto the dancefloor, shuffling through the crowd until B/F/N found a place she liked.
It didnât take too long for two guys to come up to us and dance with us. B/F/N clearly enjoyed it and I didnât really mind it, but when he started to grind himself against me, I started to get uncomfortable. I looked at B/F/N and managed to catch her eye. I quickly raised my three middle fingers, then my pinky and then my index and middle finger. She frowned for a second before she raised her index finger twice. I nodded and quickly excused myself.
To say I was glad that we had made up those signals was an understatement. A few signals and I was able to tell B/F/N that I was uncomfortable and would get some fresh air. She in turn told me that she was okay and would stay.
I managed to get to the entrance of the club and quickly pushed the door open, taking a deep breath. A lot of other clubbers were outside, most of them smoking. I coughed a little when I inhaled some of the smoke and decided to round the corner of the club, hoping to get some smoke free air there.
And I did. Relieved, I leaned against the cold wall and took some deep breaths, closing my eyes. But I wasnât alone for long.
âHey sweetheart.â I cringed. âWhat are you doing out here all alone?â He tried to sound sexy, but he just sounded like an idiot.
âLast time I checked that was none of your concern.â He took a few steps closer.
âHey, no need to be so hostile.â
âIâm not hostile, Iâm just not interested. Please leave me alone now. Thank you.â I hoped that he would listen, but of course he didnât.
âListen lady, I-â Before he could finish the sentence someone grabbed him from behind and pushed him against the nearest wall.
âIâm pretty sure, she said no.â That venom in the voiceâŠwhat is he doing here? The man stumbled before he turned to look at who attacked him. When he saw the blonde, he chuckled and raised his fists. But before he could even think about throwing a punch, the other man had him at his throat and effortlessly held him up.
âNowâŠwhen a woman says ânoâ, we leave, right?â The blonde grinned up at the man, who was frantically nodding, while clawing at the hand around his neck.
The blonde dropped him without another care and without missing a beat, the man ran away. Then the blonde turned to me.
âAre you okay?â His voice wasâŠunexpectedly soft. I couldnât help but nod and he sighed in relief. He took a few steps towards me but stopped before coming too close.
âIâŠI am sorry about earlier. I acted like anâŠan idiot.â He sounded sincere. And to be honest, I no longer really cared about all that. But he didnât need to know that.
âYou did.â He looked a bit hurt, and I could no longer hold the laughter in. âGeez, donât worry about that. I donât care. You got what you deserve butâŠI appreciate the apology.â He smiled at me and held out his hand.
âCaius.â I smiled back and placed my hand in hisâŠreally cold one.
âY/N.â He raised my hand to his lips and placed a soft kiss on my knuckles.
And that was the start to my new life.
