NATALIA DYER USTA 19th Annual Opening Night Gala Blue Carpet in New York City — August 26th, 2019
“Visible Light” series by Alexander Harding
I’ve been thinking a lot about healing and developing this strong sense of self.
There is such this emphasis in care culture of banishing negativity and engaging in positive thoughts and practices.
Which is good and fine,
but it leads itself to a great deal of failure.
Healing, recovery, developing yourself does not mean the absence of negativity.
It just means learning how to care for yourself when these inevitably feelings happen.
Developing healthy coping mechanisms
here i am, predictably on my couch at the same time every evening, like some sort of elder scrolls character
hardest thing to learn during recovery is….. some of your misery is your own fault. you have to actively choose to stop wallowing in your own pain & start to recover. that means stop being self deprecating, start taking care of yourself, start eating healthy, start taking your hygiene seriously, even if it’s hard. & it is hard! but you must.
im so scared the rest of my life is gonna feel like this
i feel like we all need to remind ourselves of this at some point…
