"I’ve yet to meet a journalist who can change that theory.” Caterina shrugged, entirely unphased by the other’s retort. “If you feel that you have what it takes, be my guest.” As long as Caterina had her coffee to sip on, the woman was more than welcome to prove her wrong.

Stevie glanced over the list offered to her, appraising it in silence. “I actually read The Kiss Quotient, it was really good. I definitely recommend.” Heat flooded her body at the woman’s joke, as she was still a little embarrassed, but not so much so that she couldn’t take the teasing in good sport. “Oh, I’m sure there’s more than one in our millennial age. Maybe I should be buying those instead, since I clearly could use the help.” She snorted slightly, rolling her eyes at herself. The redhead’s spirits lifted when the brunette agreed to go with her however –– and the pet name sent a SHIVER down her spine. “Let me just pay for this and then we can get out of here.” 

Stevie slid the book she’d purchased into her purse as they exited the store, leading the pair towards the aforementioned juice bar. “It’s weird, I feel like it’s been so long since I last saw you even though it really wasn’t that long ago. You look good. I mean, you did then too, but –– I just mean you seem well. Which is … good.” God Stevie SHUT UP. 

“Thanks,” Caterina smiled, even sober Stevie had a tendency to ramble on. Thankfully the general gist of the other’s failed sentence amounted to a compliment; which she loves in general. The walk wasn’t a long one, and before she knew it they fell arrived just in time to join the short queue. Caterina gave the menu a glance before turning to Stevie. “Well, you’re the juice expert, which one should I try?”

Hazel eyes wandered to over where Mireya was thankfully still at, before looking back at the other. “I don’t have time for this,” she said, trying to brush past the other.

"Oh, I could list a few other options, but like you said-- I don’t have time for this.” With a sweeping gesture of her arm, Caterina made way for the other woman to pass free of hindrance. Without missing a beat Caterina turned and went about her way heading to the bistro across the street.

Olivia chuckled. “Of course,” she said calmly. “Jumping across a table is a completely normal reaction, very reasonable.” Her voice stayed low, it stayed calm, her expression was thoroughly unimpressed. Even when Caterina was moving closer and was only a few inches away from her, Olivia didn’t move. She wasn’t easily intimidated, and the Italian certainly wouldn’t change that. “Or what?” she asked. “Here’s the thing. You don’t have the upper hand here. We had an agreement. You broke it. Be glad I didn’t expose your pretty little ass, or you’d have a whole different set of issues here.”

The mocking of her actions made Caterina roll her eyes. Instead of further feeding into their tête-à-tête she tried to reign in her anger, or at least appear as if she did. Disregarding the statements made to irk her further Caterina focused on what sounded like a compliment. It was almost like she flipped a switch on her emotions, the anger ebbing and being replaced by a calm and somewhat levelheaded individual. “You think my ass is pretty,” Caterina smirked, brow arching. “Good eye.”

“Summer reads huh? What kind of books are on said list? You don’t seem like a Nicholas Sparks kind of woman to me but, hey, I’ve been wrong before.” She offered a cheeky smile as she was clearly joking more than not, though hazel eyes roamed the face that brought back some … interesting memories. Stevie CLEARED her throat. “Crazy coincidence! I was actually going to grab a juice from my favourite place down the street after I paid for this book if you want to come along. They’ve got coffee and other stuff if juice isn’t your thing.” She was beginning to internally WINCE, and perhaps it began to show on the exterior too. “This is probably not proper post-hookup etiquette, I apologize. You can totally say no.”

Why must she be so thorough? Pulling out her phone from her pocket she unlocked the device and pulled up the Popsugar list which she was using as her cover story. “Have a look,” she turned the device over to Stevie for perusal.  Amused Caterina grinned, “Perhaps we should check and see if there’s a book on that while we’re here.” Just the possible title was enough to keep that grin in place; Post-hookup Etiquette for Idiots. “I’m willing to try anything once, so juice it is. Lead the way, darling.”

She was way too focused on following Mireya to even notice anything else around her. After all, Arturo’s men could really be anywhere and if they got a hold of her, she didn’t even want to know what Olivia would do. Yet when there was someone else inserting herself in her path, Rhona’s path of vision was blocked in the process. She looked up at the woman, quite obviously displeased. “Don’t you have anything better to do than to mess with other people’s business?”

"Just giving you a heads up,” Caterina shrugged. The smile on her lips gave a picture of innocence. “From one Private Investigator to another,” she guessed, as any other observer would. “That is what you are, right? Anyways, you weren’t exactly being covert, or aware of the eyes that were on you.”

Olivia knew better than to back down. Instead she just raised a single brow at the other. The second she noticed the rapid movement of Caterina almost leaping across the desk, Olivia tactically rolled to the side with her chair, watching the other land on the floor just a moment later. She sighed, looking down at the woman. “What did you say about not overreacting?”

“I do not overreact!” Caterina protested when clearly she did just that. Turning over, she pushed up and off the floor. Upright once more, Caterina quickly moved so that she was in Olivia’s face again. With her hands on either side of the chair, she caged her in where she sat. Leaning in she arched a brow. “Thread lightly, Hayes.” If only she would take her own advice. Out of the two of them, Caterina had the most to loose should Olivia choose to reveal her secret. A person can only fake a death once. Real life wasn’t like a soap opera. Alas, here the Mob Boss stood menacingly looming over the other. Her features expressed a mixture of frustration, anger, and arousal.
