A loverboy, A yearner, and Two Women locked - TLOK Modern AU

"Stop doing the 'thing.'" Mako chastised.

"Shut up! You're doing the same thing." Iroh shot back. "Shouldn't you be focusing on your interview?"

"Well, I could be focusing on it... but we haven't been home in 3 years! And I haven't... seen her in 4 years." Mako said lowly.

"Jeez.... yearner at heart." Iroh shifted his standing, leaning against a wall.

"You're the one to talk, loverboy. She leads you to the student center one day at RCU and you're all heart-eyes from the start." Mako looked at Iroh.

"Oh - screw off, at least I've been making moves from the start, even if she is in relationship with Korra!" Iroh looked at Mako.

Mako shook his head, looking down at his boots. He turned his head up toward the camera crew, who were interviewing another Marine. 4 years he hasn't spoken to her, not after everything. Maybe it was better letting her see him on TV instead of him contacting her. She could see how he changed - no everyone. Everyone that he knew could see how much he changed by joining the Marine Corps after he had cut ties with all them 4 years ago.

Iroh fixed his glove. He thought about Asami. Her eyes, her hair, the way she would whip her hair whenever it got in her face. He had been in active contact with her, communicating through letters or pre-recorded videos they would send to each other. He hadn't brought up Mako to her, not after the day Mako explained everything that happened between her, Korra, and him. Even if lying did feel wrong at times, Mako was his brother. His best friend, his squadmate, his bro. All of it forged together in boot camp, infantry school, and the Si Wong Campaign.
