Hiking was great! We got partway through with a 3 mile trail (one way; so 6 miles total), but not sure how far. We had to turn back when we found a wasp nest the size of a person's head in the middle of the path, which was a great excuse to turn around when we were already very hot and tired) That's not what the second picture is, that's some sort of giant fungus
We stopped at the local coffee place on the way back and I got one of their seasonal drinks (a coconut and toasted marshmallow ice latte); it tastes like the sunscreen smells (in a good way)
Any plans for the weekend?
Yes

This very production of Orpheus & Eurydice is now available to stream, free, for the month of June.
I found an Asheville Tourists jersey at the thrift store (and bought it obviously) and it has been driving me nuts for weeks that I can't find anything about whose jersey number (#16) this is, I assume because the Tourists are a low single A team and the turnover there is really high (and not nearly as many people watch these leagues) I'm very soft about player jerseys/tshirts I find in thrift stores, I think it's sweet to find this evidence of someone caring a lot about a player and I always read up about those players when I find these, but I can't do that this time.
Also, the fact that the fabric quality is REALLY good and that the color scheme (white with red and blue trim) doesn't match their current teal and seafoam colors makes me think it might be fairly old. Information about minor league teams/uniform history doesn't seem to be as fastidiously kept as major league teams (or it is out there and search engines are impossible to use)

"impulse buy" (noun) anything I have been low-key thinking about purchasing for 3 months, an item that subsequently spent 24-48 hours in my cart as I went through each and every state of grief, and which I then bought, in a desperate, the-guilt-can't-get-me-if-I'm-fast-enough rush.
lately I've been playing a sudoku variation called killer sudoku which is kind of like if regular sudoku was evil. and it drives me crazy.
it looks like this. I require a calculator and extensive note taking to finish the puzzle.
I need to stress that this is not "fun" for me. I simply must solve the riddles of the grid I have to.
Everyone needs to get into watching minor leagues. Now, now, now. Watch the AHL, ECHL. Watch G league. Watch single A, high A, Dominican Summer League. Watch 2nd and 3rd tier development leagues. There is so much joy and heartbreak and triumph and loss and love and life in the minor leagues, everyone needs to watch them.
I've had a pretty severe phobia of cars/driving/being a passenger in a car for like 30 years, but I've been in therapy for OCD for the last two years and I take my driving test on Friday ✌️
I'm honestly very confident in my skills, the only thing I'm worried about is my right side mirror looks like a funhouse mirror and I don't think that's going to pass the car inspection part of the test. I'm trying to get it fixed before then but I'm not sure if I'll have time. I'm not too troubled by that though. The advice I've been given about taking the test is "go in expecting to fail the first time, just treat it as a learning experience (so it'll take a lot of pressure off of you)", so if that's a fail, I'm still glad to go up there and get more familiar/less anxious about the process.
TEST TODAY
TEST ON TUESDAY RESCHEDULED BECAUSE I FORGOT THE INSURANCE INFORMATION AT HOME AND COULDN'T TAKE THE TEST WITHOUT IT
I've since learned that (at least in NC) you have to ask your insurance for a specific thing to prove you're insured (your name isn't on the insurance card if you don't have a license and you can't take the license test without proof of insurance with your name on it), so I wouldn't have been able to take the test even if I hadn't misplaced the paper, which makes me feel better.
I passed !
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here
Person in my gas station talking to someone on the phone: ...We're in Ohio...
Me, knowing we're in Utah: ????
Thank you for the map for context. It makes this 1,000 times funnier and intriguing.
