Clearly his response had not been what the other had wanted to hear - their entire being seemed to droop with the weight of sadness, their voice thick with unshed misery. Nozomu could feel it rolling from their form, that sadness - it seemed to pervade him too, clouding pink eyes quite clearly. He wished he could’ve said something otherwise, but……
❝ I’ll do my best to. Do you have a phone number or some way - any way - I could contact you in that case? ❞
He was serious about it, about bearing in mind the vivid description the other gave and keeping his eyes open in case one day he could provide that good, long-awaited news to the stranger.
--- “A... phone number?” They echoed, staring at the man for a solid minute before it finally clicked in their head. He meant one of those numbers for the weird human things they had seen others using! Well, they did have one, but it was made for those on the other side of the veil, not for humans (despite the faerie phone’s similar appearance to human cell phones). The faerie wasn’t entirely sure if it could be used to talk with humans, but they figured it was worth a try.
--- “O-oh! Yeah. I have... I have a cell phone. S-sort of. It’s not... Um-- That is-- It’s, uh...” Val stumbled over their words and pulled out their ‘cell phone’ in a rush, going into their contacts and pulling up their own number before showing the screen to him. “Th-that’s my number. You can reach me by calling or texting it. I mean, shouting my name works, too, but only if I’m nearby. AH! I-I forgot! Uh... My name is-- Y-you can call me Val.”
