Riddle + 🍨, romantic for the event :3 ♡
It was Trey’s idea to feature a DIY ice-cream bar at the next Unbirthday Party. “Nothing like something cold to help cool you off at the height of summer,” he’d said (though, truthfully, you thought that he was just looking for a break from baking absurd amounts of sweets to sate Heartslabyul). Riddle had granted his permission, and thus the bar was assembled.
“... So, how exactly does this work?” he asked, brow wrinkling as he approached the front of the ice-cream table.
“There’s no rules you need to follow,” you told Riddle with a giggle. “It’s ‘do-it-yourself’, so you just throw together whatever you like in a bowl and go.”
“I can make... whatever I wish?” He spoke as though the concept were foreign to him.
“Yeah, like this!” You demonstrated by wetting a scooper in a container of warm water before running it in a tub. Producing a perfectly round mound of ice-cream, you deposited it into your bowl. You handed the scooper off to your boyfriend, who gingerly accepted it.
Riddle mimicked your motion, then hurried behind you as you made your way down the line to the toppings station. Usually he was so confident, so large and in charge--but in the moment, he was no different from any other unsure high school boy.
He watched, curious, as you popped open a bottle of strawberry syrup and used it to drizzle a little heart, two dots, and a smile onto your scoop. You replaced the syrup, your hand hovering over the can of whipped cream, sprinkles, maraschino cherries, and candies, then it suddenly dawned on Riddle.
“Did you... make me?” he asked, staring down at your bowl of ice-cream.
“What if I did?” You placed a strawberry--slice to resemble a little crown--on the ice-cream Riddle’s head.
“I did say ‘you just throw together whatever you like in a bowl’, didn’t I?” You stuck out your tongue at him. “And I like you a lot, so why wouldn’t I put you in my bowl?”
“Th-That’s... that’s simply absurd!” Riddle cried, his face flaring as crimson as his strawberry crown. “You can’t just... m-make up rules as you go! That’s unfair! That’s cheating!!”
“Ahahah~ You’re bright red, Riddle! You’re so cute, I could eat you right up.”
To prove your point, you dipped your spoon straight into your ice-cream, claiming his entire left cheek. The bite tasted like cream, as deep and sweet as Riddle’s love.
