I haven't been this excited for a set in a *long* time, it's looking like it's going to hit so many of my favorite tropes and themes and I absolutely cannot wait.

Pokemon has been slowly revealing that, as long as it isn't being actively provoked by Groudon or Team Aqua or whatever, Kyogre is actually a really chill and friendly Pokemon that enjoys surprising humans by popping up in random places and I love it for that. Other legendaries are the subjects of distant myths who even when making objectively provable appearances still have you questioning if you really saw them, and meanwhile you could just be fishing and pull up your line and BAM Kyogre jumpscare because it thought it'd be funny.

Would silver bordered instants and sorceries be able to appear as prepare spells in black border? Galathul Galecaller from Alchemy: Secrets of Strixhaven prepares Corvid Squall which is pretty close to Crow Storm, and that had me wondering if a black border card could actually prepare Crow Storm.

I believe an Un-spell which works in black border could be a prepared spell.

Over the past month I have been designing a build for the Lego Ideas Pokémon Build Your Card! challenge and it's finally up! I was so worried that the build wouldn't get approved by the deadline by I made it!

I built Giratina (Origin Forme)! You were only allowed to pick from a certain list so I couldn't do Kyogre, but second favorite isn't too bad and I think Giratina has a better story for this anyways.

This is my first big Lego design and it took forever. I wanted it to be as perfect as I could possibly get it so I spent ages on every part trying to find the right pieces and connect them in the right angles. I rarely build outside of sets so it was a real challenge, but I am beyond happy with how it turned out! I've never been the most artistic person and I've never put this much effort into an artistic endeavor, but I think it turned out pretty good! Name: Kyogre

Pronunciation: Ky-Yoh-Gurr

Etymology: Kaiō (Simplified Chinese for Poseidon or “King of the Sea”) + Ogre

Type: Water

Design Origins:

Kyogre is the personification of the seas and oceans. It is conceptually based on Leviathan, a beast reference in the Bible who starts a battle with Behemoth (Which Groudon takes inspiration from) that will result in both of their deaths at the end of time. Between the two beasts, Leviathan is the one which is most associated with the seas and is the modern day word for whales in Hebrew, hence why Kyogre resembles a whale. Notably, traditional depictions of the mythical Leviathan do not resemble a whale or therefore Kyogre.

Primal Kyogre becomes much larger and gains markings on its fins resembling the greek letter Alpha. This may be in reference to the fact that all life originated from the oceans as Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet, in opposition to Omega, which is found on Primal Groudon.

"What two worlds would all you like to see clash?"

I think Duskmourn and Theros would be fascinating with all the thematic and mechanical parallels. Both have enchantment creatures that are formed from thought (fear and belief), both have had keywords that care about tapped creatures (survival and inspired), both have keywords for enchantments entering (eerie and constellation), both have mythic entities that are sometimes creatures and sometimes not (overlord and gods), etc. I think it would be interesting to have them as two sides of a set with parallel mechanical callbacks and incarnation/manifestation magic.
