In your eyes | Tyree&Whitney

Perched on her bed, Whitney was gripping her bedspread tight, staring at the clock. If anyone could see her now theyâd probably think her on the verge of loosing it. While actually she was just.. incredibly nervous for some reason. This shouldnât be this huge deal, right? She was going to the ball with her best friend. With the only person in this school, beside her brother, who truly knew her. It should be like any other night hanging out. Just that it wasnât.. because most didnât have vivid dreams or the undeniable urge to kiss their best friend each time their eyes met. Or he held her hand. While Whitney had always loved Tyree, she knew this kind of love, these feelings, were different. Which made everything else different. And as a cause this night was a big deal. Felt like a date rather than an ordinary hangout. She wanted it to be perfect. To be as imagined from start to finish. In other words, no pressure. The sound of a fist rapping against her door caused the brunette to jump slightly, and she carefully untangled her hands, getting to her feet and grabbing her purse. Heart hammering in her chest, she went to open the door, standing right there on the threshold, eyes finding his, cheeks flushing as if on cue. âH-Hi.â she breathed. âSo.. ahm.. guess weâre doing this huh?â She added, trying to add some humor to ease her own tension.

There werenât many times in his life where Tyree had felt nervous. His father scared him, sure, and he was often filled with dread whenever his older brothers came home, but none of that made him nervous, necessarily. But standing in front of the closed door, butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. And then the door opened and his heart flew to his throat and his jaw dropped with a large smile. âWhit...â He breathed out softly, his eyes lightening as they landed on her smile. âYou look... amazing. Beautiful.â He whispered, reaching out with the corsage. âMay I?â He asked softly before slowly sliding it onto her wrist. And then, acting out of pure adrenaline, he reached over to give her a light kiss on her cheek before holding out his arm. âAre you ready, mâlady?â He asked, his Scottish accent standing out. Shona had taught him right, that was for sure.
