I fly for a living and occasionally party. That's about it.

Really, it was god awful. The apartment was a mess and it took me days to clean. Maybe you could give me lessons?

Hey, I wish I had the talent to make gifts. I’m not very good when it comes to arts and crafts and stuff. Last time I tried painting… Actually, I’m not going to bring that up.

“Ah, a man of taste I see.” He said with a quick wink. “Why don’t you give me what you’re having, it sounds exquisite.”

“Kinda? I love the holiday season, the snow, the lights, all that. I don’t love the “get-together” and family time. I don’t usually go home much for Christmas anymore. You? Do you have any plans for Christmas?”

“I do have extremely good taste.” He watched was the waiter walked over and placed the order for two French Martinis. Once the waiter was away, he turned his attention back to Cassiel.

“I don’t have many plans except maybe give gifts to everyone in the block. Sadly I’m not working over Christmas, so no Christmas in Italy for me this year.”

“Oh… wow, I’ve been to Amsterdam once but the experience was nothing like yours. Mostly walked the Canals of Amsterdam, touristy stuff.” Trying not to blush, he let the door close behind them, “Do you like being a flight attendant?”

Grabbing a seat opposite of Ty, he grabbed the drink menu off the table and gave it a glance. “Normally I’m a wine guy but I think for tonight, I might be a martini guy. Do you have a favorite preference?”

“I love it. I wouldn’t change it for the world, the people you meet and the sites you see is all worth it.” He browsed the menu and settled on a French Martini. “Yeah, I recommend the french martini. It’s Pineapple Juice, Vodka and Liquer. This is my round so I’ll buy it.” “Now tell me, are you excited for christmas?”

Online is good, so long as you do it in plenty of time. Shit makes me happy that my family doesn’t do gifts. I had the building Secret Santa, and that was that for this year. I can’t imagine having to think through buying things for everyone I know. I prefer acts of service over gift-giving. Christmas for me is just hanging out with my friends and drinking together. Maybe a volunteer shift at the soup kitchen for the homeless shelter.

Yeah, I really need to get onto Amazon and order away. Honestly, I’m glad I don’t have an extended family because I don’t think I could handle buying gifts for 900 relatives I only see a few times a year. I think it’s great that you go and volunteer with the homeless, it’s extremely admirable.

“Well… first you’d have to tell me about what happened on your Amsterdam flight.” He joked, quickly catching up with him. “So, you’re a pilot. How did you get into that field?”

Cassiel while he loved to travel, had been on fewer plane rides them he would have loved to admit. Finally reaching the entrance of the bar, he grabbed the door-handle, holding it open for Ty. “After you.”

“Well. You know how in Amsterdam they can legally do weed there, some of us were uneducated and decided to go into this cafe, we ordered some muffins and you can guess what happened. We then went out to a bar and it was a mess. Luckily, it was out of our system before we had to fly back.” He shook his head at him. “Oh no I’m not a Pilot, I’m a flight attendant.” Ty smiled as he held the door open for him. “Ever the gentleman I see.” He walked over with him to a booth table and sat down. “What’s your poison?”

Surprised it’s taken you this long to encounter New York crazy, but I guess if you’re not around so much, it makes sense. Did you at least manage to buy all the gifts you needed?

Please don’t mention aging. The sheer thought of that horrifies me to an extent. I was able to get the vast majority of the gifts I needed, but I think I’ll stick to ordering online this time around.

Phoenix Bar [] Ty & Cassiel

“Thank you, you’re not looking too bad either.” He told Ty, praying he managed to avoid embarrassing himself tonight. “How wild are we talking?”

Rushing to catch up with Ty, they quickly found their steady pace, heading towards the Phoenix Bar. “It’s been busy, I feel like my head never leaves the law books at this point. Yourself?”

“All I’m gonna say is, it won’t be a repeat of when I was put onto an Amsterdam flight.... that’s best left untouched. But it’ll be fun.” He slowed down a bit for Cassiel to catch up with him as they headed towards the bar. 

“I’ve had a week off, I start back flying in two days time. I think I’m on a shortish flight to Atlanta. Because you are studying law, does that mean if I end up in legal trouble I can count on you to help me out?” Ty wasn’t being serious when he spoke and he hoped Cassiel would pick up on it.
