Pokemon Region idea thats been on my mind:

Basically the important part is that its been split down the middle in some way, either a river or a mountain range or a completely arbitrary border both sides have agreed to.

Depending on which game you pick you either start on side A or side B. Each side has four gyms and after you beat them you have to cross the divide to get to the other side. Gameplay wise this means each gym leader has two different teams, the one they use for side A players and the one for side B players. The team used against othersiders is significantly harder than the one they use for their own.

This is because both halves of the region HATE each other.

Obvi Your rival comes from the other side, i kinda like the idea of there being two different rivals. You meet both but which one you meet first depends again on which version you play. Personally i like the idea that one was from side B but has lived on side A now long enough that people view them as being one of them and side B's think theyre a traitor. I think if this was a real game theyd make the player the outsider. But!! i like the idea more so that your second "friendly" rival is the one whos new to the region and doesnt really get the animosity.

The legendaries have some sort of forbidden love story that was lost to time and has been misremembered as the origin of each sides animosity towards the other.

Ive been calling this Pokemon Romeo and Pokemon Juliet in my head

Lowkey one of the most embarrassing ways for a pokemon to become a favorite is when youre in the post game just trying to fill out ur pokedex so you added a guy to the team to level it up just to evolve it and then somehow getting attached to it from that alone like wtf do you mean Archaludon is one my top 10 now?? the fucking Bridge?!?!! Im such a portlander this is so lame

you know what? I actually like when people point out the very obvious themes and metaphors of a story like it's the craziest find ever. Not only are they engaging with the story in a passionate way, they actually managed to understand what it is about. God knows that's not a given on this forsaken website

my notoriously picky oldest brother's favorite pokemon game was Scarlet, he's replayed it 3 times. His second favorite was Legends Arceus.

He also simultaneously does not know the names of any pokemon invented after gen 1

Kinda fascinated with how many fanarts ive seen depicting taunie/urbain as something of a manipulative scammer or someone unashamedly mooching off the protag when imo theyre just kinda dumb financially and didnt really expect anything out of the player when it came to their loan debt.

Honestly it bummed me out cuz i was really excited to see this personality reveal that just never happened
