Thoughts on New ATLA Movie

Spoilers Ahead (mostly vague).

I only found out about Avatar Aang, the Last Airbender through a tumblr post mention, which really surprised me. I was also surprised by tumblr posts about the movie 90% thirsting for Zuko (although I guess I shouldn't be as shocked at that one).

I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it at first, the original series is pretty close to my heart. I did end up finishing it. My one-word review is: acceptable ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Notable points I'd like to make:

Starting the story with a lesson learned in childhood for it to be the answer at the climax seems like a cheap narrative device to me, along with Aang voicing what he's doing at the temple. While the animation is beautiful and incredibly detailed (could their eyes be any shinier? @W@?), I prefer fight sequences with more clarity and less cuts. The humor is passable, although the brief age shifting in the spirit world seems pretty unnecessary.

I haven't seen this done yet, so here's my favorite Star Guardian and Star Warrior! Kirby's not a magical girl, but I feel like they'd get along with Aika real well! And if you haven't checked it out yet, look up "I Don't Want To Be A Magical Girl" on youtube. It's such a fun concept, I really enjoyed watching the pilot animatic!!!

I have recently stumbled upon @chessman-protocol's rottmnt covert au and I am obsessed. The way Chess draws muscles and form has me shook! In the rules of this au, it is said that they don't use profanity, so I had a very strong mental image of these badass boys in the middle of a mission using the tamest language possible heehee.
